Kao

"Let you what!?!"

I pursed my then puckered lips together as Pete leaned back and stared at me just when I was so ready for him to kiss me.

He was staring at me incredulously as the last thing I said slowly registered in his mind.

"Tell me I heard you wrong."

Pete angles himself to face me properly.

He even took his seat belt off to do that.

"I don't think you did."

I said gingerly as I bit on my lower lip.

Shouldn't I have said it at that moment?

I heaved a sigh before I turned towards Pete looking so conflicted.

"Look, I can explain, okay? I mean elaborate, whatever but can we do it somewhere else? Somewhere private maybe? I can't talk with ally she's people trying to get a piece of your car."

I said as I noticed how a group of students had already huddled few meters away from where Pete was parked on the side of the road.

They were trying to take pictures of the car and I can't even blame them.

I've been in and out of the city for months but I have not seen anything like the car that Pete has.

But that's not my concern at the moment.

I needed to talk to Pete now or we'd get nowhere with how many times we get interrupted.

"You sure need to explain everything. But I'm hungry so let's have dinner first."

I nodded quickly as I wanted to be out of there stat.

A few minutes after, I found myself at the same corner we always book when we dine at Tagpuan sitting across Pete who was all about his own it guisado.

He refused to talk to me until he had eaten first.

The drive towards the restaurant was about fifteen minutes while the food preparation was around twenty so Pete was ignoring me for more than half an hour now.

A novelty, considering he even staged a fake kidnapping just so he could have me in his house.

I offered him a glass of water when I noticed how he seemed to be eating without stopping to breath.

He must really be hungry.

He looked up at me and took the glass without a word and drank from it before he went back to eating again.

He was now munching on the glazed chicken.

He was eating as if he's starved for days.

Even back on those days he we would consider himself penniless, I never saw him eat like this.

I shook my head when I saw some sauce on the side of his mouth before I took some napkins and held it up for him to take.

He didn't notice me instantly that I still had to wave the napkins in front of him to get his attention before he sat up and looked at me.

Mouth full of food as his both hands have sauce all over.

Really, if one would see him in that state, you'd never believe he owns an automobile parts empire that operates around Southeast Asia.

"What is wrong with you? Are you that hungry!?! Should I call out manang Sol and the rest of your help for starving you!?!"

I said as stood up and leaned over to reach for his mouth and wiped it clean.
