Kao
"I had to run away from home to another country just so I could be with the love of my life, then here you are, already living with yours and yet you want to move out. Why, Kao? Make me understand please."
I could here the frustration and judgement in Rein's voice the moment I finished telling her about the deal I made with Pete if we were to date again.
A deal-which she already knew by the way, be she her husband told her, because Pete ranted me out to Kaleb.
But then again, I already saw it coming.
What I didn't anticipate was the both of them chiding me.
Right before I answered Rein's call, I already got a message from Kaleb asking me to call him.
Turned out, he's designated to watch their new born why Rein judges me and my decisions.
"I just feel like, it's the right thing to do."
I told Rein who didn't bother hiding her un amused face at me.
"I still don't get it."
She said, as if Pete and Kaleb telling me that wasn't enough already.
And I don't know why it was the case.
"I don't want to be dating Pete and still be under his care and payroll, okay? It just doesn't feel right to me. Yeah, sure, even if he sends me to college ten times, it wouldn't hurt his savings and assets in any way but that's the thing, I don't want to date him and have him providing for me."
Rein narrowed her eyes at me before she shook her head.
"And why is that!?! That's what relationships are all about Kao. You help each other. And since it's Pete's who's obviously the one who's very much able to help you at the moment, I think it's just right that he offers you some help. And you, on the other hand who really needs it should not be embarrassed for accepting the help."
Rein moved closer to the camera as if doing so would convince me any further before she continued.
"Also, it's not like you're free loading or anything. You're working, whatever it is that you're getting from him, is something you had work for, so I really believe that you should not be thinking too much about what other people would say just as long as you're doing your part."
I bit on my lower lip.
If only it would be that easy.
"I don't want to depend too much on Pete. He's helped me enough. More than enough, actually. Now I want to try doing things my own way."
I heard another frustrated groan from the woman on the other end of the line.
"And you can't do that with him in his house!?!"
I asked myself that too.
And the answer is, I'd still feel better if I move out of his house.
"I'd feel better if I do it on my own."
Rein raised an eyebrow at me before she tutted.
"So you'd rather be away from him, in doing so, is that it!?!"
I shook my head with how she put it when it wasn't really the case.
"You sound just like him."
I could still hear Pete's voice as he said those words to me.
"It's not like I'm going very far. And besides, I'm doing this so we could formally date again. I don't know why Pete acts as if me moving out and resigning from my post means I'm leaving him altogether."
