1 am, a couple of Imperial Guards were making their rounds around the Cathedral, when one of them suddenly dropped to the ground with a thud, the other quickly following.
An armour suit, clad in silver, appeared out of the air as it looked down at the soldiers, before looking out in another direction and jotting a thumb up.
First, the diversion team will enter from underground. You'll activate Incurio's ability to take out the guards. We'll make for the Cathedral's inner courtyard without being detected, if we're found while still outside, a huge number of guard soldiers and religious worshipers will stop us. Once we've made it inside, Bolic and Esdeath will be in the building that stands before us. We'll cause a commotion, and lure Esdeath out to the courtyard! Najenda's words played through Tatsumi's head as the operation went off without a hitch so far, and the group of five charged at the large amount of enemies in the courtyard.
One of the Imperial Guards broke through the doors of the Cathedral, relaying the news to Esdeath.
"W-we have a situation! A number of intruders have made it to the central courtyard!" The guard announced.
Esdeath smirked. "I knew Night Raid would choose tonight. Just as I predicted."
"The courtyard!? That's not far from here!" Bolic shouted, standing up abruptly, panicked.
Kurome, you keep an eye on Bolic, and don't leave his side!" Esdeath ordered. "Okami, you back me up if I need it, try to keep one or two of them off me, I want to enjoy this."
"Roger!" Kurome responded, giving her commander a salute.
"Yes ma'am." Okami responded.
Esdeath glanced at Okami. Strange, compared to these last few days, today he seems rather, tame, did something happen?
"G-general! I want you to protect me yourself!" Bolic shouted, desperately hugging at Esdeath's leg.
Esdeath scoffed. "You always give the appearance that you are in control, try actually acting like it, you're pathetic. Don't worry, I won't leave the Cathedral." She informed.
Bolic suddenly had a heel smashed into his face, sending him back to Kurome.
"No matter how much chaos they cause, they lose if they can't kill you Bolic, now, hurry and come to me, Night Raid!" Esdeath shouted out with glee.
Outside the Cathedral, the five members of Night Raid stood tall atop the bodies of the Imperial Guards, watching the doors of the Cathedral.
"We caused all this racket, and they still haven't come out." Najenda muttered.
"Could they have fled?" Susanoo asked.
"No, they're in there, I can feel this creepy vibe coming off the Cathedral." Leone said, staring at the Cathedral. "No mistake about it, Esdeath is set on hunting us down."
"Akame and the others should be invading from the sky any minute now." Susanoo added.
Najenda looked down.
"Doesn't this means we only have one option?" Shobu asked.
He's right, we needed Esdeath and the rest to be focused on us in order for the assassination to succeed. We have no choice! Najenda thought. "Change of plans! We'll enter the church ourselves!" She announced.
Everyone stood at the ready, and as they walked to the doors, Najenda glanced back at Susanoo. "Susanoo, is your trump card ready?" She asked.
"Yes, I've set it to activate as soon as you say the keyword." He responded.
