Honest dropped the meat in his hands as Dorthea relayed the news to him. "Syura, he's, d-d-d-d-dead?" He asked, shocked.
"Mhm, he was too eager to succeed." Dorthea responded, nodding.
"I, I had such high hopes for Syura!" He stated, tears dropping from his eyes as he suddenly cried out. "Oooooooh! My foolish wayward son! Kuuuuuuuh!" He cried out.
The tears suddenly stopped as he took a one eighty. "Well. Oh well."
Dorthea was thrown for a surprise at the reversal in emotion.
"I'll just make another one from scratch. This time, to avoid birthing a piece of trash, I'll choose an even better mother." Honest stated, cackling to himself.
This marvel of a country, really is nearing its end. Dorthea thought, still stunned from Honest's emotional rollercoaster.
...
Okami and Shobu were both silent as they once more sat next to each other. "I heard what happened to your friend." Okami stated. "And I felt your anger and sadness, so I figured I'd come offer some company." He explained.
Shobu glanced over at Okami, who was just looking ahead. "Thanks."
"He managed to take out Syura though, so he didn't die for nothing." Okami informed.
Shobu smiled to himself. "Lubbock may have been a bit cowardly, but he's definitely not gonna go down without a fight."
Okami let out a dry laugh. "Yeah."
Shobu kept staring at Okami. "There's something else, isn't there?" He asked.
Okami froze up, but sighed. "Yeah, the only reason you're alive right now was because I asked Budo to make sure of it, but as for Tatsumi, he was essentially gifted to Esdeath, and it's been decided there will be a public execution being held for him." He informed.
Shobu's eyes widened. "A public- they're trying to draw the rest of us out?" He realized.
Okami nodded. "It's going to work, it's just a hunch, but something massive is gonna happen there, so I've decided on something." He said.
"What?" Shobu asked, curious.
Okami smiled. "On the day of the execution, you and I will kill Budo." He stated seriously.
Shobu's eyes widened. "What?"
"Of course, the rest of Night Raid will still need to deal with whoever else may be there, which so far is Esdeath for sure, but Budo is ours." He explained. "So rest up."
"Okay... but why?" He asked.
Okami just smiled again as he stood up, taking something out of the pocket of his overcoat, and passed it down to Shobu. "Budo managed to collect that, before Lubbock's body was disposed, he wants you to know that this is something he wants."
Shobu caught the object, and noticed that it was Lubbock's goggles. "He... wants to die?"
Okami let out a small chuckle. "It's complicated, but in a way, yes, he doesn't want to die to some rebel, or some corrupt person within the Empire, so he thought, why not die to someone he could see as his successor, in a war where he'll eventually die anyway?"
Shobu's eyes widened. "So you, are his successor?" He asked, shocked.
"Yeah, I'm neither a rebel, nor a corrupt official, I'm strong, and I understand his sense of Justice." Okami explained.
Shobu stared at Okami, before a small smile fell on his face as well. "Either way, it's a win-win for my side right?"
"Hah, I guess you could say that."

Aksi"You sure this'll work?" Shobu asked, holding the rare ore in his hand, glancing at Okami, before hesitantly looking over at Esdeath, who was waiting patiently for them. "Yes." Okami responded, taking a heavy breath as he held up his own ore. "Alrig...
