Okami gasped as he sat up, water splashing up as a result.
He stared straight ahead, bringing a hand up to his face.
What... was that?
He stood up on wobbly legs, and heard something behind him.
He turned, and saw the two Wolves from before standing from their seated positions next to where he had laid.
"Your King..." he trailed off, the two Wolves' tails drooping somewhat.
"Alright, let's go, I can't stay here." He then said, turning back to the trail, which spiralled back up to the surface.
One of the Wolves let out a low howl, as if agreeing, and saddled up beside him, the other walking up along his other side.
Leo reached his hands down, giving both of the Wolves gentle head pats.
He looked to his right, to the Wolf who had saved him. "Snow." Then he looked to his left, to the one whom understood human gestures, taking in his much darker, black fur. "Soot."
The both of them rubbed their heads further into his hands, and he smiled.
Soot took the lead, nodding his head to follow him.
...
The Wolves had mostly dispersed by now, only Snow and Soot choosing to follow Okami as he searched through the dark woods, the moon high overhead still.
Eventually, he heard some noises, and looked ahead to see a bunch of Wolves howling at something.
He quickly took off, running forward, past the trees and landing on the beach.
Ahead of him stood Esdeath and Tatsumi, both with their swords drawn and pointed at the Wolves.
"Wait!" Okami shouted, charging out between the two groups. "Wait!" He shouted again.
Snow and Soot ran up to stand alongside him again, and he spoke again, turning his head to his commander. "Commander, these animals are native to this land, they were simply howling because they see you both as a threat. So long as you don't hurt them, they will leave you alone." He said quickly, before turning to the Wolves.
"Do you understand that? They won't be here much longer, you all are to leave them alone until they leave!" He shouted to the Wolves.
Most whimpered in compliance, but a couple stepped forward, baring their teeth.
Snow also stepped forward, baring his own, causing hesitance, and then compliance in the Wolves who had not wanted to listen.
Okami stood straight again as the Wolves dispersed back into the forest.
He sighed, before turning to Tatsumi and Esdeath once again. "I apologize on their behalf, humans have not treated their kind well in the past." He explained. "Also, these are my new companions, Snow and Soot." He added, gesturing a hand to both the Wolves.
Tatsumi just stared at him blankly, too many questions going through his mind, but ultimately chalked it up to just another one of Okami's weird quirks.
Esdeath sheathed her sword. "It's good that you showed up when you did, I was starting to get worried you wouldn't, I believe I found the way to get off the island, and I hadn't seen where you had gone off to."
Okami chuckled, lifting an arm and rubbing at the back of his head, through the hood. "Ehe, sorry."
Esdeath narrowed her eyes at him, but ultimately turned away. "Follow me." She said.
Soot and Snow both looked up at their King, who nodded in response, following after her, the two thus following as a result.
Tatsumi stood up, catching up to Okami. "We think the portal that teleported us here is what will bring us back." He explained, smiling.

Acción"You sure this'll work?" Shobu asked, holding the rare ore in his hand, glancing at Okami, before hesitantly looking over at Esdeath, who was waiting patiently for them. "Yes." Okami responded, taking a heavy breath as he held up his own ore. "Alrig...
