In a village along the outskirts of the Capital, inside one of the wood cabins, sat a pregnant woman in a rocking chair, and a man sitting in another chair, writing something.

"They say a new variety of Danger Beats have been showing up here near the Capital." The man started. "No matter what, don't go out by yourself." He said.

"I won't, I have my precious baby to think of too." The woman responded, holding her belly.

A large creature suddenly broke through the front door to the cabin, however, disrupting the peaceful atmosphere.

"Wha!" The man went to grab his gun, but another creature burst open the wall, grabbing his smaller body and biting off his head.

"Ah, no." The woman let out, shaken. "Stop." She tried to get up, but ended up falling down on her back, wincing in pain.

"O-ow, that hurts." She said, before noticing the creature walking closer to her.

He grabbed her roughly, and a sickening tear reverberated throughout the room, before a loud scream escaped out into the night sky.

...

Esdeath was kneeling before the Emperor and the Minister, having been called to them.

"Thanks to the Jaegers, almost all the rebels in the Capital Region have been eradicated." The Emperor started, happy. "Night Raid must fear you, General, because they haven't made any moves in the past two months. These are superb results." He complemented.

"Yes, and as soon as we discover Night Raid's hiding place, we will hunt them down swiftly." She responded.

"Mhm! I am glad but, I'm sorry that you haven't found a man who fits your interests, General." The Emperor spoke. "If you won't have the Minsiter, then how about his son?" He asked. "I believe he has a promising future."

"Your highness." Esdeath started, an immediate sense of finality in her tone. "As my report indicated, I've already found my man, I'll be fine." She said.

"But didn't he disappear? You lost your lover." The Emperor said, not meaning to sound as rude as he was.

"I keep the hope alive that I will someday recapture him, one might call that a kind of love." She explained.

The Emperor was silent for a moment. "How deep!" He eventually said.

Minister Honest sighed. "It's not really that deep."

...

Later, Honest and Esdeath were sitting at a table filled with all sorts of food, no one else in the room.

"It seems his highness has been influenced by you and is now interested in love himself." Honest said, stirring a cup of tea.

"Once he's older, it'll be a full course meal of decadence, from drinking to women to gourmet, hehe."

"And he'll still be your puppet." Esdeath commented slyly, a smirk on her face.

"I'll make sure his highness has some sweet, sweeeet memories." Honest said with a crazed smirk.

"Don't go giving him any diseases." She said.

"Now then, I have another favour to ask of you, General."

"Let's hear it."

"It's about the new variety of Danger Beasts that has been appearing in the outskirts of the Capital. I want them captured and subdued." He said.

"Oh that! I've already been investigating the matter myself. At first, they only showed up deep in Forests and Mines, but just the other day they barged into a village and ate the inhabitants." She recalled.
