"Hi Ruby, how are you feeling?" I asked softly as she jumped when the door opened.

"I'm okay, thank you." She answered quietly.

"Are you hungry? I brought you some dinner, our head cook made a turkey dinner for us tonight." She perked up at the sound of food.

I placed the plate and fork on a small table and wheeled it over her bed then adjusted her bed to sit her up. She looked at the food then at me and I encouraged her to eat while I sat in the chair next to her. I watched her as she ate and she shoveled bite after bite into her mouth until the plate was empty. I got her a glass of water and moved the empty plate away.

I talked to her some more and needed to know if that man was abusing these poor girls but didn't know how to bring it up. I eventually just asked her right out, she said that the older girls yes, they were given rewards and treats for servicing him but he never touched the underage girls. He was still a sick man for taking all these girls, she did tell me that if a girl got pregnant she was taken away and they would go somewhere else. I asked if she knew where and she said she didn't, there was a huge complex and fenced area they were ordered to stay away from, she looked like she didn't want to talk about it anymore so I changed the subject.

"Ruby, what is your favorite color?" I asked and she seemed confused by the sudden change in topic.

"Green, maybe blue...no green is my favorite." She said finally and I nodded.

"Green is my favorite color too." I smiled. "It was pink when I was little but I just love the colors of the trees and plants in the forest when the sun shine through them." She smiled nodding, she had such a cute little face.

Before I could say anything else the guard from before gave a quick knock and entered bowing.

"Princess, I was told to come back to my post so I will be outside." He said as he stood.

"Were you able to get some of the supper and pie Anna prepared?" I asked and he grinned nodding. "Well perfect, thank you for letting me know." I nodded to him and he bowed again before stepping back out.

I looked back at Ruby and she was just staring at me.

"Oh, did you want some pie too? There was apple pie made for dessert, I can get some brought over if you would like some?" I asked smiling and she just stared her eyes roaming my face. "Ruby what's wrong, are you okay?" I asked a little concerned.

"You are a princess?" She whispered and I nodded. "My wolf could feel something different about you, that must be it." She said nodding to herself.
   
She must have been talking with her wolf, I let her be for a moment.

Myra, are you busy?  I linked her.

Nope, what's up girly? And where are you? I thought you might have headed upstairs but you weren't up there, I was just about to reach out.

I'm in the med bay, could you see if there is any pie left and bring a couple slices down here please?

I can do that yes, I'll be there in five minutes.  She chirped.

"I have a friend bringing some pie down for us if you'd like some?" I asked and she nodded another small smile coming to her lips then it faded.

"Is it the Alpha coming?" She asked timidly.

"No, the betas mate will be bringing it." I said watching her relax.

"Okay, your mate is scary." She whispered and I laughed.

"He is, isn't he, but I'll let you in on a secret, he is very kind to friends and loved ones. As long as he has no reason to be upset with you, you will see he isn't so scary." I said chuckling again.
