Issue 52 - A Losing Battle

The portal closed, and there she stood. The one I was warned time and time again about. The Scarlet Witch. Looking at me, she smiled, lifting Thor's hammer Mjølnir with her powers before crushing it. "After all this time, I've been searching for so long. I've finally found you, my little boy. You don't need to be afraid anymore, Y/N. Your mother is here."

To say everyone was caught off guard would be an understatement. The small crowd that had gathered was now less hesitant to stick around. Pushing Peni back further, I glanced at her, whispering. "Head back into the workshop and lock the doors..."

"No, I want to help, let me..."

"No," I beg to stutter, my hand trembling. "Not this time."

My attention was drawn back to the Scarlet Witch, who looked battered down, bloody and dangerous. Thankfully Peni listened as she hid inside. I took serval steps back, holding my hand out. "Easy now, no sudden movements!" I shout

This was mainly targeted at Midoriya, who was behind, ready to fight if need be. Scarlet Witch shook her head, trying to calm everyone down. "You have nothing to fear; I won't hurt you, Y/N. After all, I came here to bring you home."

"Nothing to fear? Tell that to the Avengers... Did you kill them?"

"Does it matter? The Avengers in this universe are still alive." She coldly replied, holding her hands out and approaching me. "Look at you, my boy, all grown up. You have much to tell me about your adventures."

"Of course... I'll love to; I would like nothing more," I mutter, losing my false confidence. Bakugo wasn't one to sit around, allowing this madness to happen to attack the Scarlet Witch right off the bat. Holding her hand out, she stopped the attack turning her gaze on the student. Quickly running forward, I stood in between them, trembling with fear and screaming. "Wait! I beg of you, Bakugo, back down!"

"Like I'm going to listen to you, side character!"

Staring directly at him, I shook my head, biting my lip. "Please... She will kill you."

Seeing the absolute fear in my eyes, Bakugo backed away. I turned to the Scarlet Witch, my heart racing. "We can go, go wherever you like. Just please leave everyone else out of this!"

Inspecting the situation around her, the Scarlet Witch smiled, keeping calm and collected. "Why, of course, anything for my baby boy."

"No!" Peni screamed, pushing through the crowd. "You can't take him! Do you know where you are? With the most powerful pros, you've invaded UA High, Japan's most prestigious hero school! We won't let you take him!"

"Quiet!" Scarlet Witch snapped, pushing Peni back with her powers.

"Peni!" I shout, kneeling like a coward. "Please don't hurt her! She's my cousin; forgive her, please."

"Your cousin? My niece... On who's side?"

"My f-." I paused, looking up to my supposed mother, and clearing my throat. "I'll go with you anywhere you want. I'll be the son you've been looking for but on one condition. You tell me the truth."

"Why Y/N, I would never lie to you."

"Good. Ok... Did you, did you kill my father?" I whispered, getting a concerned look from her. "You promised."

"He wouldn't allow us to be together. He kept me from you, claiming it was to protect you. He didn't understand what he was talking about; he left me with no choice."

I felt my heart drop as I stepped away from the villain, making her look confused. "You didn't have to do that... You didn't have to do that."

Her eye began to twitch as the Scarlet Witch approached. "Do not make me out to be the monster here, young man. I won't ask again; come home. Now."
