The Raft did not have quiet rooms.
It had sealed rooms.
Thick walls. Triple locks. Reinforced glass. Quirk dampeners humming behind steel panels. Every corner watched by cameras that never blinked. Every door had guards posted with rifles ready and fingers close to triggers.
Chameleon sat at the center of one of those rooms.
Or the man they had named Chameleon did.
He was tied down in a steel chair bolted to the floor, wrists locked in restraints thick enough to hold a Nomu. Dampener cuffs circled his neck, wrists, and ankles, each one glowing with a cold blue light. A second restraint was fixed over his mouth, not to silence him, but to detect any shift in his voice.
The face he wore was plain.
Too plain.
A normal man's face. Tired eyes. Weak jaw. Short hair. No scars. No strange features. Nothing that belonged on the monster who had almost dragged an entire city into madness.
The heavy doors opened.
Heat entered the room before Endeavor did.
The guards straightened at once.
Endeavor stepped inside, his flame beard burning low, his eyes fixed on the prisoner. The door sealed shut behind him with a deep mechanical thud.
For a moment, neither of them spoke.
Endeavor looked at the man in the chair and felt something tighten in his chest.
This was him?
This was the villain who had turned civilians into puppets?
This was the thing that had made heroes fight the people they were meant to save?
Chameleon stared back with a lone, empty gaze.
Then his mouth curved.
"What's wrong, number one hero?" he asked. His voice was dry and thin now. Only one voice. No chorus. No crowd. "Are you disappointed?"
Endeavor said nothing.
Chameleon tilted his head slightly.
"Were you hoping for someone on the caliber of All For One? Someone taller? Someone with a better costume?" His smile widened. "Or are you upset you were not the one who took me down?"
The flames along Endeavor's shoulders flared once.
"You only have one voice."
Chameleon's eyes stayed on him.
"How observant."
"The others are gone."
"Are they?"
Endeavor stepped closer to the glass line marked on the floor, the boundary the guards had warned him not to cross.
"You're going to answer my questions."
Chameleon looked almost bored.
"Am I?"
Endeavor stared down at him.
"Your quirk. Explain it."
Silence.
"How many masks did you spread through the city?"
Silence.
"Were you working alone?"
Chameleon blinked slowly.
"Who helped you target the Mayor's office?"
No answer.
Endeavor's jaw tightened.
