The guard's knock didn't sound like a person. It sounded like a stamp.

Three sharp raps on metal, and then a voice through the slot in the door like it was being delivered from the bottom of a well.

"Yagi! Visitor."

All Might blinked, slow. He wasn't expecting anyone. Not now. Not when the whole world had decided he was a headline instead of a hero.

He stood anyway.

Chains weren't supposed to suit him. Nothing about him was meant to rattle when he moved. But they did. Every step made noise, and every noise felt like a reminder.

The corridor lights washed everything pale. The air was disinfectant and old concrete. No applause, no kids asking for autographs, no cameras. Just the steady, indifferent hum of a place built to keep people in.

He was brought into the visiting room, guided to the familiar divide. Glass. Phones. Lines painted on the floor like invisible hands saying this far and no further.

All Might sat down.

And then he saw him.

Y/N.

A black eye blooming across one cheekbone. A split lip still angry-red. Bruises under the collar like someone had tried to leave fingerprints with their fists.

All Might's breath caught.

"Young Parker..." he whispered, voice breaking around the edges. "Who did this to you?"

I leaned forward and picked up the phone, the cord stretching like the last thread of normality between us. My eyes were tired in a way that made me look older than I had any right to.

"I had to pull a few favours to get here," I said quietly, as if the room itself might take offence. I inhaled, slow, controlled. "How are you doing?"

All Might's hand tightened around his receiver.

"I shouldn't be the one you're worrying about," he said, voice firm even as his face betrayed him. "I've heard... I've heard what's happening out there. The anger. The way people are turning." His gaze searched my face, trying to read the truth between the bruises. "Is U.A. making you welcome?"

My leg bounced under the table, a jitter I couldn't drown out. I let out a humourless laugh that didn't reach his eyes.

"Everyone in my new hero course sees me as a bloody murderer," I said, the words blunt enough to hurt on the way out. "No one's happy with... any of this. And I can't blame them."

All Might's expression tightened, disappointment flickering, not at me, but at the world. At the idea that his students could be cruel.

"They are good children," he said, like he could force it into being true by saying it hard enough. "Good heroes."

"They probably are," I admitted. I rubbed his eyes with the heel of his hand, exhaustion heavy as wet clothes. When I lowered my hand, my stare didn't really land anywhere. It hovered. Like hIwas watching something no one else could see.

"You get what you deserve," I said slowly. "Old saying. Been around for years because, most of the time... it's true."

I swallowed, throat working.

"But not for everyone."

All Might's fingers went still on the phone.

My voice stayed calm, but it had that dangerous softness to it, the kind that usually came right before someone did something they couldn't take back.
