I walked straight out into the open like I had lost all common sense.

Maybe I had.

The arena stretched around me in layers of broken concrete, fake streets, shattered storefronts, and half-collapsed buildings that looked like a city after a very bad week. I kept my arms folded behind my back and strolled into the middle of it all like I was out for a Sunday walk instead of using myself as bait.

Every instinct I had was screaming at me that this was a terrible idea.

I ignored it.

I stopped dead center in the open. My mask peeled back from my face and melted into the collar of my suit. I closed my eyes and let the silence sit there for half a second.

"Come on," I whispered to myself. "Take the bait. Take it."

My Spider-Sense screamed.

I tilted my head just as a blade hissed past my cheek.

Psylocke did not waste time with flair, introductions, or dramatic speeches. She was on me instantly, purple blade flashing as she came in for the kill. I dropped my weight, slid back, twisted, ducked, and let her strikes skim past me one after another. She was fast in that unnerving way where it felt like the fight had already started five seconds before your brain caught up.

I kept my hands behind my back the whole time, weaving around her attacks by inches.

Another slash came for my throat. I bent backward so far I nearly kissed the ground, then snapped back up and held a hand out.

"You know," I said, dodging another cut, "we haven't had a proper introduction. Name's Y/N Parker. You can call me Web-Head, you can call me Amazing, just don't call me late for dinner. You get it?"

That was the exact moment she swept my legs out from under me.

I hit the ground hard, and in one smooth movement she was on top of me with her blade at my neck. I stared up at her, pinned flat, and let out a disappointed sigh.

"Yeah," I muttered. "Not my best quip."

Her eyes narrowed. "Do you ever shut up?"

"Where would be the fun in that?" I asked. "But fair enough, you're clearly upset. You know what always makes me feel better? A good hug."

Baymax dropped in from above like the world's gentlest ambush.

He wrapped both arms around Psylocke in a giant bear hug and lifted her clean off me. She thrashed once, but Baymax had all the cheerful persistence of an overbuilt mattress. I rolled to my feet as my suit surged over my hand and I called on Snapshot. The black suit pulsed, and the moment Baymax let her go, Psylocke's body locked in place exactly as it had been. Her arms were still crushed inward like she was frozen mid-embrace.

I dusted myself off and crouched in front of her.

"Baymax," I said, nodding. "That was beautiful. Actual teamwork. I'm proud of us."

"Helping others is part of my programming," Baymax said. "On a scale of one to ten, how would you rate my service?"

I pointed at him without looking away from Psylocke. "We'll circle back."

I pulled one of my red balls from my belt and started tossing it from hand to hand in front of her face.

"Now," I said, "I could knock you out of the exam right now and move on with my day. But where's the fun in that? So maybe let's do a little Q and A."

"On a scale of one to ten," Baymax repeated, "how would you rate my service?"

I turned to him. "Baymax. Read the room."
