Happy birthday Chris 💙 wit'cha fine ass, yass gawd. 😂

Rashad.

At the end of the concert..

"Rest in peace to a fellow Falcon, former football and basketball player, Carson Ashton Reynolds. For on this night, we retire jersey number 37." We stood out on the football field having a candlelight vigil in honor of Carson.

I'm just gonna be respectful for the one time because I honestly couldn't stand him but the dude was dead now.

I stood behind my baby with my arms folded in front of her shoulders.

"Carson will be remembered and forever in our hearts and minds. It is sad that we meet on such occasion, but it was a life well-lived. Rest in peace."

His parents along with a few other family members, released white balloons for him. The gathered student body lit candles and let go of blue, black, and silvery-gray balloons; all East Valley colors.

It was a picture of the football and basketball teams from each year on one of the picture boards. The ones from freshman year caught my eye first.

From left to right, it was: Callen, Mike, Ruben, Manny, Carson, Jaxon, me, David, Daniel, and a bunch of other people. All of us were holding up our helmets. Freshman year our freshman team went undefeated, 12-0. Nobody was fucking with us.

I tapped Jax and pointed to it. He chuckled and shook his head.

"That's when niggas was somewhat cool." I nodded in agreement and looked at the other pictures.

Surprisingly, it was a picture of him and Asia. She saw it too because she walked off.

I wouldn't wanna see that shit either.

"Rashad, if she come home with a dip in her walk, I'm beating your ass." Theresa threatened me as they got ready to leave the little after party. I laughed a little.

"I got a couple things for her and that's not one." She looked at me like she barely believed me. "I promise."

"Mhm, don't make me come look for you."

"You're always at my house, you won't have to look far." She laughed and shook her head. We said our goodbyes and they left.

Its a little after ten and our night hasn't even started yet. I didn't even drive my car, I rode with Camren and Jaxon. And they left to go do lord knows what, but we're supposed to meet up tomorrow sometime.

We're sitting in her car and have been for the last twenty minutes. She keeps playing with the charm on her bracelet. I know she misses her dad and I don't know how to comfort her because I've never experienced such loss. I have both of my parents and she has a biological mother and stepfather. Not saying Mal doesn't love her like his own, but it's just a different love.

She's looking for the same love she had six years ago in Mal and me. It takes the father figure in a girl's life to lead by example and show her how she's supposed to be treated and loved. She hadn't had that for so long which is probably why she ended up with Carson.

I was gon' say something rude, but I'ma stop speaking ill of the dead.

"Baby."

"Hm?"

"You okay?"

"Yeah, I'm fine." She smiled.

I'ma let it slide because it's still her birthday.
