Some of the things that Byakuya said in his... outburst were unusual. And Byakuya had seem almost defensive. Not to mention that he was talking very casually about the possibility of murdering Chihiro...
Somehow, it felt Chihiro's fault. He knew that he would encounter Byakuya in the library and still went. Then, he got angry at the heir. While that wouldn't have been that bad, Chihiro said something to upset the other boy and that's where it really went wrong.
As much as Chihiro wanted to think about what exactly Byakuya had said, now was not the time. After all, Monokuma had just announced a surprise. It was obvious it wasn't a good one. So, here he was, walking to the gym. Byakuya was walking in front of him and it took a lot of energy to just keep up with the heir. It felt familiar.
Chihiro wasn't the last one to arrive at the gym; it looked like Hiro, Makoto and Kyoko were not there yet. Luckily, it didn't take long for them to arrive.
Unfortunately, Monokuma also showed up.
"It looks like everyone's here! So then, let's get started!"
Come on, out with it. What kind of motive have you prepared for us this time? Byakuya asked, his arms crossed.
"Whatever you subject us to, we will not break."
"Yeah, that's right! We're not gonna lose to you ever again!" Hina said, supporting her friend.
"Puhuhu... You don't have to get so defensive. Calm down! I've decided to change things up a bit this time. After all, we don't want this to get boring!"
"For this motive, I have prepared something very special for all of you on your E-handbooks!" Monokuma twirled as he said that.
"On there, you will find a target! If you manage to kill your target in the next three days and are not found out as the blackened, you may take another person with you! Isn't that just the best deal ever?"
"Taking another person with you..." Makoto said shocked.
"Yep! Now, I would check your E-handbook to see who your target is! Though, beware! If somebody finds out you are their hunter, so they find out you have them as your target, before you kill them, you can't take another person with you anymore!" with that Monokuma disappeared.
"Th-There's nothing to worry about, right? Nobody would kill a friend... even if they can take another, right?" Hina asked.
"Have you so quickly forgotten the lesson from last time? You can't judge others by your own standard," Byakuya said, arms still crossed.
"W-well, so can't you! I believe in my friends!"
"Sure, just like you believed in everybody else? If so, then obviously nothing bad is going to happen," Byakuya said, his words dripping with sarcasm.
Just as Hina was about to respond, Sakura cut in.
"Enough with this senseless bickering. This isn't going to get us everywhere."
"Hmpf." With that, the heir left.
"I have an idea! If everybody shares their target with each other, it will be obvious who murdered who!" Taka said.
"I'm afraid that's not a good idea, Taka. After all, somebody can still kill somebody who is not their target..."
"I hadn't thought of that..."
"It's okay, bro. it was a good idea."
"Maybe it's the best if we go to our rooms right now, it's getting close to night time, after all." Makoto proposed.
