Chihiro entered the courtroom and walked to his place. Next to him was Byakuya who, just like always, looked unbothered by their whole situation.
"Let's begin with a basic explanation of the class trial! So, your votes will determine the results. If you can figure out "whodunnit" then only they will receive punishment. But if you pick the wrong one... Then I'll punish everyone *besides* the blackened, and the one that deceived everyone else will graduate!" Monokuma said.
Just like last time, it was Kyoko who spoke first.
"Let's start with the murder weapon again, since the Monokuma file didn't say what killed Makoto."
"Those things sticking out of him did, right? They were the only things that could have killed Makoto!" Hiro said.
"Actually," Kyoko began. "Makoto was killed using something else. The Monokuma file said that Makoto also took a blow to the head."
"Oh..."
"I don't think I remember seeing something that could have caused a blow to the head at the crime scene..."
"That's because the murderer tried to hide it..." Chihiro said.
"Hide it?"
"On the rack with all of the hammers... one had a small splatter of blood on it. there also was a small puddle of blood under it..."
"So, that must have dealt the killing blow." Byakuya surmised.
"Yes, especially since the wounds from the chisels were made post-mortem." Kyoko said.
"And you only tell us this now? It could have saved us quite some time if you began with that," Byakuya said, annoyance clear in his voice.
"I wanted to make sure that there was no doubt," Kyoko explained simply.
"I suppose that some of our classmates can be quite dumb at times, but still." Byakuya continued, ignoring the 'hey' from Hiro.
"Purposely hiding information is quite weird, isn't it?" Byakuya asked rhetorically, an amused glint in his eyes.
"Do you suspect me, Byakuya?"
"Let's just say that I may have found something incrimination about you. Though, let's talk about that later, we still have so much to discuss."
Kyoko stared at Byakuya for a few more seconds, until finally turning away. Chihiro could see a bit of something in her eyes, though he wasn't sure what. Those two always seemed to
understand each other, even though they were arguing for most of the time they actually spoke.
"Right. Now that we are sure about the murder weapon, we should talk about the location. There are a few things that led me to believe that Makoto wasn't murdered in the supply room,"
"But actually, the art room itself, right?" Byakuya finished.
"Yes," Kyoko said, not looking annoyed at being interrupted. "The blood trail seemed to come from the art classroom, into the supply room, not the other way."
"Wha-! Are you saying that Mr. Naegi was murdered in the art classroom itself? What a plot twist!"
"Yes, you simpleton, that's what we both just said. I thought you could hear, though I may have overestimated you," Byakuya said, extremely annoyed.
Looks like somebody forgot his coffee this morning.
"Ahh! Sorry, Mr. Togami!"
Before Byakuya could say anything, Mondo spoke.
"But why would the killer kill him there, just to move the body? That doesn't make a lotta sense. I mean, just cuz of a trail of blood, doesn't mean he got killed there."
"That wasn't the only piece of evidence that we found. Near the blood trial was also a small puddle of blood, just like the one Chihiro described. And Hina also found something interesting."
"Yeah! When we were searching in Makoto's room, I found a candy wrapper!" Hina said excitedly, the earlier events of the day seeming to be forgotten.
"Um... what does a candy wrapper have to do with this?" Hiro asked, a bit confused
"Because I found the same type in the art classroom. See!" Hina said, now holding up two of the same type of candy wrappers.
"I don't see how candy wrappers can prove the location where Makoto was killed." Taka said.
"I- I think I see where Hina is going with this. The candy wrapper wouldn't have just fallen out of his pocket or something i-if he were just walking. T-that would only happen if he were attacked."
"Correct. Unless, the killer placed it there, which I doubt, the wrapper wouldn't have fallen out of his pocket unless he was attacked there."
"Ya just said the killer could've placed the wrapper there himself, why don't ya think that happened?"
Instead of Kyoko answering, it was Byakuya.
"Because the killer couldn't have known about the wrapper in Makoto's room and since Hina and I were the ones who found it, we know it couldn't have been planted by the killer, since we both have alibies for the murder."
"Right..."
"That only leaves one big piece of evidence, right, Byakuya?" Kyoko asked, the same glint of something in her eyes again.
"You mean the footprint? Why don't you tell them about it," Byakuya suggested, the same glint present in his eyes.
"Really?" Kyoko asked, raising one eyebrow. "That's quite generous of you," Kyoko responded, sarcasm clear in her voice.
"Well, go on then."
"Of course. Just as Byakuya was saying, in the art room was a big bloody footprint which presumably belongs to the killer, since it doesn't match Makoto's footprints."
"How big are we talking, Miss Kirigiri?" Hifumi asked.
"I can't say exactly due to the print not being complete. It is quite a bit larger than Makoto's footprint." Kyoko continued talking.
"The footprint also looks to be going into the supply room, which is another point of evidence to that Makoto was actually killed in the art classroom itself."
"Wha- I'm kinda lost, could you guys explain all of this again..."
"You really are wasting oxygen... Kyoko, why don't you repeat it." Byakuya suggested again.
"Fine. So, for Hiro and anybody else who got lost: Makoto was actually killed in the art classroom. The trail of blood not only starts in the art classroom and goes into the supply room, where the body is, there also is a small puddle of water near where the trail begins in the art classroom. Hina also found two matching candy wrappers belonging to Makoto and there were the remains of a bloody footprint found facing the door into the supply room."
"That was all the evidence we have, Hiro."
"Thanks! I just got totally lost there."
"Of course, you did. Now that we have figured all of that out, it's time to get to the actually exciting part: the identity of Makoto's murder," Byakuya said with a smirk on his face.
