When Chihiro woke up, he wasn't well rested. With everything that had happened yesterday, especially the rising tensions between some of his classmates, he just couldn't sleep. It also didn't help that he still wasn't sure if his initial idea about the identity of the traitor was even true.
There was of course the fact that after spending more time with his classmates, Chihiro realized that Byakuya wasn't the only one with a seemingly important relationship with his family. For once, Sakura had mentioned something like that and there was still the weird things Kyoko said when the two of them were with Alter Ego. Not to mention, he was fairly sure Taka did also mention something...
It was probably the purpose of the motive since that way one would begin to distrust the others much more.
Chihiro let out a sigh as he lay on his bed, he really wasn't getting any closer at solving the traitor's identity. All he could hope for now that some of his classmates were in a better mood then yesterday. After all, he still doesn't know what happened to Hina after he left to talk to Alter Ego.
Speaking of his conversation with the program wasn't as informative as he hoped. Just when Alter Ego started talking, Hiro walked in, cutting his conversation with Alter Ego short. Though, he could always try again today.
After laying on his bed for a few more minutes, Chihiro stood up and took a quick shower. He changed into a simple with shirt with dark blue pants and opened his door to go to the dining hall.
It didn't take long for him to reach his destination and to his surprise, almost everybody was there already. Only Hiro and Hifumi seemed to be missing. Even Taka, Kyoko and Byakuya had showed up.
While Taka's and Kyoko's sudden appearance didn't feel as weird, considering the conversations he had with the two of them yesterday, it did feel weird that the heir was here, especially if what Kyoko told him yesterday was true.
It didn't look like Chihiro was the only one to notice this sudden change in the blonde's behaviour, though it did look like Chihiro was one of the only ones happy to see the heir; Taka was outright glaring at Byakuya and Hina glanced every few seconds at him and even though Chihiro couldn't see her face, he was quite sure that a glare was also on her face. He also caught Kyoko staring at the blonde for a split second, though he also couldn't see her face.
Byakuya, however, didn't seem to care about the hostility surrounding him. He was drinking a cup of either coffee or tea, probably coffee knowing the heir. Chihiro even caught him sending a small smirk to Kyoko as the programmer came back from making his breakfast.
It didn't take long for Hiro to arrive after that. The clairvoyant came in with a tired look in his eyes. "Hey, dudes, looks like I overslept," Hiro greeted, walking towards the kitchen.
Chihiro waved in return, still a bit too tired to actually talk.
When Hiro came back out of the kitchen Hifumi was still missing. Which wasn't that weird, since the fanfic writer was never one of the earliest people here, but considering that everybody else was here...
"G-guys, has anybody seen H-Hifumi yet? It isn't like him to be this late..." Chihiro said, anxiety clear in his voice. He was looking at his plate, not having the energy to look anybody in the eye.
He heard Hina's and Sakura's conversation stop.
"I'm afraid Hina and I both haven't..." Sakura responded, the slightest hint of fear creeping into her voice.
"S-same here, little dude. I haven't seen the guy since yesterday..." Hiro said and Chihiro could hear the nervousness in his voice.
"Nor have I." Kyoko said coldly.
"Almost as if he has gone missing. Weird don't you think?" Byakuya asked, a hint of something close to happiness of all things clear in his voice.
"What do you mean by that?" Hina asked angerly in return.
Chihiro lifted his head up, knowing that the situation was going to escalate.
"That he has been murdered, of course," Byakuya said, standing up with a smirk on his face. "It seems like the game is finally afoot once again."
"Y-You!-" Hina began before getting cut off.
"I'm what? Please, don't bore me with another one of your insults. I heard enough of them yesterday," Byakuya said before walking towards the door.
"Now then, if I were you, I would look for Hifumi... well what's left of him, I suppose," Byakuya said, leaving the room.
Chihiro could see Hina quietly fuming from where she was now standing. Sakura put a hand on her shoulder. "Hine, dear, we talked about this. You mustn't let him get to you. he wants to rile you up," Sakura explained, her voice calm.
"Y-you're right... let's just look for Hifumi now..." Hina responded, walking towards the door. Sakura followed her and together they left the room.
"We must also go," Kyoko said in the most authoritative voice Chihiro had heard come from the lavender-haired girl yet.
Chihiro still was rooted to his spot. He had a feeling that they weren't going to find Hifumi... alive.
Seeing this, Hiro spoke up. "Yeah... she's right, little dude. We gotta go," Hiro said, nudging Chihiro with his elbow.
"R-right..." Chihiro said, taking a few small steps when he felt an arm around his shoulders.
"D-don't ya worry, little dude! I predict that H-Hifumi is gonna be just fine when we find him," Hiro said, attempting to cheer Chihiro up.
Not finding the energy to talk, Chihiro simply nodded in return and gave Hiro a nervous smile. The taller boy ruffled his hair before pushing him along.
"Now, let's go before Kyoko leaves us behind," He said, looking at the girl who just left through the doors.
The duo followed her until they were walking in line with her.
"I believe that Hina and Sakura are already checking the first floor," Kyoko said, her voice as cold as ever.
Stuff like this doesn't really bother her...
"T-then we should go to the second floor, right?" Chihiro asked, mustering up enough energy to look up at Kyoko.
Kyoko nodded and began walking faster. Chihiro and Hiro followed her, with the latter's arm still around Chihiro.
It didn't take long for the three of them to arrive to the second floor. They began checking out the locker rooms and the pool first where they found nothing.
That's good, right?
A trip to the toilets gave them similar results.
Then, with Kyoko in the front and Chihiro and Hiro in tow they entered classroom 2-A.
The moment Chihiro looked into the room, his suspicions were confirmed. There, with bloodshot eyes open and what looked to be a slit throat, even if there wasn't much blood, lay the corpse of Hifumi Yamada.
"A body has been discovered! After a certain amount of time, which you may use however you like, the class trial will begin!" Monokuma's voice ran over the speaker, though Chihiro didn't hear it clearly.
One of his friends was died... again.
He let out a scream and fell to the ground before feeling two arms catch him.
