Chapter beginning

Byakuya was quite a bit surprised at this new revelation. While he would never admit it, he was wrong about the identity of the traitor.

The most logical option was Hina after and while he did have two other options due to his hint, he had ruled one suspect of earlier that day. With the information he had been given, that wouldn't make a lot of sense. Not that they were ruled of suspicion yet.

So, he was left with two options: Hina and Sakura. And with Hina already being an attempted murderer, who's to say that she wouldn't be the traitor they were looking for? It at the very least didn't make her anymore innocent.

Unfortunately, Byakuya was wrong and that wasn't the case. Instead, it was the ever so noble Sakura.

He felt a slight twinge at himself but didn't let that bother him. After all, this outcome could be much more fun than what he had previously thought.

Those thoughts were confirmed when Hina started protesting.

"There's...there's no way Sakura's a spy! The hint has to be fake! Or maybe it was referring to Hifumi!" Hina said, tears prickling at the corners of her eyes.

"B-but wouldn't... Hiro have gotten away with the murder no matter what? That's what Monokuma said... right?" Chihiro retorted, though the programmer didn't look happy saying that.

"He-he had to be lying!" Hina said before turning to look at Sakura, "Right, Sakura?" She asked.

"..." Sakura didn't respond, her head still bowed. Quite honestly, it was pathetic. One would think that someone as strong as Sakura would be strong enough to answer such a simple question, but that wasn't the case.

"Sakura...?" Hina asked hesitantly, the hope that Sakura was in fact innocent slowly draining from her.

There was a tense silence before Sakura answered. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you earlier..." The martial artist replied, regret clear in her voice.

"What...?" Hina responded with disbelief.

"So, you've been lying to us this entire time?" Byakuya asked trying to sound as sincere as possible, even though he didn't, particularly care.

"I-It's not true...! Sakura was probably...being controlled! There's gotta be some...some reason! She didn't have a choice, she was just...forced to do it!" Hina retorted, glaring at Byakuya.

"I agree. Someone like Sakura would never steep that low," Taka agreed, a hint of anger in his tone.

"The two of you are... partly correct," Sakura began, finally looking up at the rest again. "The mastermind took my dojo hostage... I had no choice but to swear loyalty to them, even though it pained me greatly."

Before anybody could get a word out, the white-haired girl continued explaining. "However, eventually I had enough. I fought against Monokuma and made up my mind. Unfortunately, this caused the mastermind to release the motive."

There was a tense silence after that, with everybody letting the words sink in.

Personally, Byakuya found it to be quite a sob story. Not to mention that it could be fake.

"See! She had no choice!" Hina said after a few more seconds of tense silence.

"Y-yeah, she didn't want to..." Chihiro said naively which made Byakuya frown ever so slightly. He had hoped that the programmer would have been smarter than that, though that looked like it was too much to ask.

"Which means Sakura isn't our enemy. She's a friend who we can trust without question. Is that it?" Byakuya responded mockingly, turning his frown into a smirk.
