"Here we are," Byakuya said as they all stood in front of the data center. The door was still unopen, but if Chihiro was to be believed- which he was- the door should've been unlocked now.
Why such a key was next to the body- of maybe the mastermind- Byakuya didn't know. But he would find it out, of course.
"Looks like the door is still unlocked..." Chihiro said, nervously fiddling with the key in his hands despite not needing it.
"Hey, so...when you open that door, there's not gonna be another huge explosion like before, right?" Hina asked, slight hesitation and fear on her face as she looked at the door in front of them.
"I'm not sure if now's the best time to ask that question, dear..." Sakura said with a slight smile. Ugh.
Byakuya crossed his arms. "Don't worry. We have Chihiro here," He said with a smirk on his face. It's not like actually thought something was going to happen- not after the door was already unlocked.
"W-what?" Chihiro asked, fear creeping into his confident expression. It seemed like Chihiro thought that what Hina had said might actually come true.
How disappointing.
"Just open the door," The heir commanded while rolling his eyes.
They didn't have any time to waste.
"R-right..." Chihiro said before hesitantly walking to the door.
The boy reached out and put his hand on the door. Then, he closed his eyes and seemingly tried to clear his mind for some idiotic reason. Finally, he slowly opened the door and just as Byakuya had suspected, nothing happened.
The blonde immediately walked past Chihiro into the room, taking in his new surroundings.
The room was absolutely filled with monitors. From every corner of the room, Byakuya felt the annoying light of the monitors shine on his glasses.
There were also a few tables in the room, but those didn't interest him. No, what interested him were the door with Monokuma's irritating face on it and the monitors that showed-
Byakuya's gaze was torn away from the monitors as Taka spoke up.
"Those monitors, they show-" Byakuya's associate didn't finish his sentence, a look of horror clear on his face.
Byakuya couldn't stop himself from doing the same, though he quickly tried to replace it with a mask of coldness and indifference. It didn't work completely.
"It's a direct feed from every single surveillance camera...!" He said as he glanced at the monitors on the walls. "All the cameras in the school feed back into this room...and they're displayed here on these monitors. So, the sole purpose of this room...is to watch us."
At this, a certain brunet let out a soft squeak. "T-to watch us?!" Chihiro repeated, his hand covering his mouth in shock.
"Then this room is...!" Hina said, a look of pure anguish on her face, even more prominent than when she found the body in the garden.
Even though Hina didn't finish her sentence, the answer was quite obvious. To Byakuya, at least. Though, since Hiro was dead, he was quite sure the others knew too. But one could never be too sure. Not with commoners.
By this point, Byakuya had regained his composure, trying not to focus on the asinine thoughts in his head. "The mastermind's private room, without a doubt," He finished with a slightly smug face.
It made sense, especially with the body they found. Why else would this key be right next to it? This also meant... something else, of course.
"Then I think this settles it," He said, the smirk on his face growing.
