When Chihiro woke up the next day, he was feeling much more rested than he thought he would be. It did take some calming down after seeing his hint, but it looked like it wasn't for nothing. Even if he still weren't sure if the hint meant that he was the traitor, he knew that it wouldn't do him any good. He had to stay calm, just like Kyoko said yesterday.
So, he went to the dining hall as normal after taking a quick shower and putting on some clothes, this time a light blue shirt with some dark blue pants. Guess he was feeling blue today.
When he entered the dining hall, only Hifumi and Kyoko were there, since with Taka not enforcing the daily meetings, everybody just ate whenever they wanted, with the day after the trial being the only exception.
Chihiro made a bowl of cereal for himself and sat at the big table, a few seats from Hifumi. He noticed that Kyoko had left in the few minutes he was in kitchen.
Chihiro ate his breakfast in silence, only looking up when he saw Hina and Sakura enter the dining hall together, with the swimmer looking in a much better mood than yesterday. Sakura was laughing about something she said and Chihiro couldn't help but smile at their great moods.
It was then that Hifumi approached him.
"Oh, hey, Hifumi," Chihiro said as he saw him approaching.
"Hello, Miss Fujisaki," Hifumi responded, waving to Chihiro.
"It's, um, mister..." Chihiro corrected a bit uncomfortably.
"Ah, of course, I forgot," Hifumi said, looking a bit guilty.
"It's okay. Though, is there a reason you want to talk. I mean, nothing happened...right?" Chihiro asked, his voice wavering the slightest bit.
After all, with the new motive going on...
"Nothing of the sorts, Mr. Fujisaki. I was merely wondering if you wanted to hang out," Hifumi explained, Chihiro calming down.
"Oh, sure! Is there any place you wanna go?" Chihiro asked with a smile, glad that he was wrong about his initial assumption.
"But of course! The rec room has many games we can play!" Hifumi said enthusiastically, like the events from yesterday hadn't bothered him in the slightest.
"Let's go then," Chihiro said in response, a bit overwhelmed from Hifumi's enthusiasm.
"I shall lead the way!" Hifumi said, already walking away.
"Wait! I still need to put my bowl away..." Chihiro said a bit awkwardly, holding the bowl in his right hand.
"Ah... of course, Mi-Mr. Fujisaki. We shall go after you put it away then!" Hifumi said, still as excited as before.
Chihiro put the bowl away in the kitchen and left the dining hall with Hifumi. On the way to the rec room, it was mostly the fanfic writer who was talking, though Chihiro didn't mind much since he liked learning new things about his classmates.
Eventually, the two of them entered the rec room where they looked for a game to play. After looking around in the cabinet that was in the back of the room, they eventually decided on Go, a Japanese board game for two players where the goal is to surround their opponents and form territories larger than that of the opponents. It was a fairly simple game that the two had played many times before.
Chihiro remembered playing it with his dad since he was a little boy. They would often play it once he was done with work and would have some free time over.
Chihiro and Hifumi placed the board onto the small table in the front of the room after removing the chess board from it. The two of them played a few games together, though the game always ended up with Chihiro as the winner. Eventually, they just started talking.
