It was a weekend, and I was helping my parents in the restaurant.
The customers were quite much today and the aroma of chicken and chips filled the air while I craved eagerly for just a plate, but mum had refused, saying I would have a plate of chicken and chips when I'm done with my shift.
I placed the orders of two lovely couples and helped set their plates on the table when the doorbell notified me of another customer entering the restaurant.
I looked up to see Athena and Kayden walking into the restaurant hand in hand, making my stomach twist in a knot and I thought of escaping, so they won't see me.
'What the hell are they doing here?' I thought.
'How did they even know here?' I questioned annoyingly, while my heart beats lightly.
I turned around swiftly and began walking hurriedly to the kitchen.
"Hello! Excuse me, we'll like to place our orders," That was Athena speaking and I froze in my spot while I placed the tray by my side.
I decided to ignore them and kept on walking, "Jade, please can you attend to the new customers?" Rose requested.
'Why do you have to be such an antagonistic?' I cried out in my mind, staring at her with betrayed eyes.
I sighed, holding the tray by my side tightly, and turned around.
Athena's gaze fell on me, her gray eyes jeering at me already and her lips were parted as she stared at me astonished while her lips curved up into a mocking smirk, then I shifted my gaze to Kayden who stared bemusedly at me.
I brushed off the thoughts in my mind and find some confidence in myself and began marching toward them.
Athena was putting on a lovely flowered printed short flare gown, she wore light make-up, and she let her mixed brown hair down while Kayden, on the other hand, was putting on casual wear, just black jeans, and a white jacket, and he looked hot between.
I stopped when I was a foot away from them," Good afternoon, What would you like to order?" I asked them, seeing that Athena had picked up the menu already.
Furthermore, I gazed at Athena instead, avoiding Kayden's stares, "Wow! Besides, I didn't know our dearest nerd works as a waiter," Athena started while I rolled my eyes at her.
'Trouble, she's always make sure to find one,' I thought, glaring at her.
"Why are you in casual wear and not in a uniform?" She asked, making me snort.
"That's because my parents own this place and if you don't mind telling me what you would like me to get for you, as you can see, I have other things to do," I snapped at her.
"Hmm! Interesting," Athena nodded like she had understood everything I had said.
"Kayden, dear, what would you like to order?" She asked, leaning on the table, and stretching her arm to touch Kayden's arm.
My gaze followed her hand on Kayden's hand, and I find myself seething.
'Hey! What am I doing?' I frowned at myself.
'Am I getting jealous or what? That can never be,' I thought, still battling with my mind.
"Anything you pick, baby," Kayden answered, and I sucked in my breath.
He's such a player, and he managed to drag me into his game.
'How stupid I am,' I thought, my eyes began to water for no entire reason and I tried to fight back my tears.
