Taehyung looked at the side dishes on the table, followed by the main dish Jin had prepared. Next, he turned his head to look at Jin, standing some distance away, and asked, "your mother taught you how to cook?"
"She did, but I am not as good as she is." After responding, Jin turned his gaze away from Taehyung. He had not made a lot of meals by himself since his mother generally handled most of the cooking, and a lot of the time, he ate at school from the cafeteria or the café near it.
"Well, why don't you have a seat, and I'll be the one to decide how well you did? I don't eat at home very often, but because I'm married now and you're going to be here, I believe the least you can do is make me something to eat whenever I ask for it."
Jin gave Taehyung a satisfied nod before taking a seat directly across from him and said, "Okay, I can do that if that's what you want."
"It is what I want. Prepare me a plate so I can test if you made a mess here or did something good. You have not yet convinced me that you would make a good husband, but maybe you can convince me otherwise."
"I think it's because we don't know each other very well, so it's normal that you might have doubts about me. I've never been married before, so this is new for me. I'll be learning a lot, so please be patient with me. I will also do my best to care for Jimin well. I know you care about him." Jin spoke as he prepared a plate for Taehyung and placed it before him. "I hope it's not a mess and you like it."
"Seokjin, I am not here to teach you. I am neither a patient man. I will say this once, so make sure you are listening." Taehyung took a bite out of the food Jin had prepared for him. He closed his eyes as he chewed and swallowed; when he opened his eyes, he looked across at Jin, "let's finish this conversation after I eat."
"Okay."
Because Jin was concerned that he hadn't cooked the meal well, it was difficult for him to take pleasure in the food he had prepared. After Taehyung showed up, he decided to make more of an effort than he had meant to in order to cook more side dishes. Originally, he had intended to do something simple.
As he ate, he thought about many things and started worrying about Jimin. He was more worried about Jimin than Taehyung because Jimin was a baby, and he had never taken care of a baby before. He had been watching videos about changing diapers and other things, but they all made him very nervous. He wanted to attend a learning class but didn't think that was possible.
"Next time, make more side dishes."
Jin's thoughts were interrupted by Taehyung's words, and when he saw that the food in front of them was all gone, he looked forward with wide eyes.
"Okay. If I know what you like, I will make it next time."
"Good. I will tell you. I don't need you cooking for me tomorrow, though I will not be home. I already gave up my plans tonight to be here with you. I hope you are aware you will be home alone a lot with Jimin."
Jin nodded, "I know; your dad said you will be busy."
"I don't want you listening to what my dad told you. Listen to me and what I tell you. You are married to me, not to him. This brings me back to the earlier topic I would like to discuss with you.
Take note and pay attention. To begin, and most importantly, avoid being annoying to me. Because of Jimin, you are here, and it is your responsibility to look after him. Please don't have anybody over to my house. Your mother is welcome to stop by, but I must first give it my blessing before she does so. It is not appropriate for her to come here without first notifying me of her arrival. It is uncomfortable for me to have strangers in my home. You are not an exception. Remember that you and Jimin are here only because I was not given a choice in the matter.
