Rain poured hard down on the town of Denver, Colorado. Thunder boomed, lightning flashing brightly in different directions. Four boys were packed into a minivan, different assortments of necessities packed tightly into the vehicle. A boy with blonde hair sat in the front seat, his bandanna-wearing best friend positioned in the seat next to him, yelling out directions for the blonde to use to drive out of town.
——
"Robin! Jesus christ, don't yell in my fucking ear while I'm driving!" Vance used all of his willpower to not punch his best friend. Robin smiled at him, fixing himself into a more comfortable position in his seat. The two boys behind them were sat on the floor of the vehicle, playing some kind of board game. Finn was winning, causing Bruce to groan every other second at his lack of points. The vehicle swerved, causing the board game to flip sideways and crash against one of the back doors. "Damn it Vance!" The blonde cursed, apologizing softly to the two boys behind him for ruining their game. Finn moved up into one of the back seats, staring out of the window at the passing scenery. It was dark out, so he couldn't see much besides the occasional flash of lightning. Bruce moved and sat next to him, pressing his back into the back door on his side. He lazily laid his legs atop of Finn's lap, smiling at his best friend who glared annoyingly at him.
"I can't see in this shit." Vance groaned, swerving the car once again. Robin flicked his forehead, making the boy remove a hand from the wheel to punch him. "Vance! Both hands on the wheel!" Vance rolled his eyes at the remark, grumbling underneath his breath as he placed his hand back in it's original spot.
Bruce picked up a comforter, throwing it onto him and Finn as he removed his legs from on the other boy. He moved closer to Finn, now sitting with his body touching the other boy's. Finn looked at him, a confused look on his face. "Are you cold?" Bruce nodded, stifling a yawn with his hand. Finn opened his arms, allowing his friend to snuggle into his chest and dwell in his warmth. Finn spread his legs slightly, positioning himself against the back door and pulling Bruce with him to lay down. The two boys fell asleep like that, the last words they heard being those of their two other friends arguing.
"Robin! Shut the fuck up, they're asleep back there!" Vance eyed the other two boys in the mirror, smiling softly at their sleeping faces. "I wanna sleep!" Vance rolled his eyes, flinching slightly when thunder boomed near the vehicle. "Too bad. You know I need you for directions." Robin placed a hand over his heart, forcing tears to come to his eyes. "So, you only need me for information and not for company?" Vance turned to him as he stopped the vehicle at a red light, smiling warmly at the boy. "Shush, you know I like your company too." Robin wiped at his eyes, smiling as well. "Good, the light is green by the way." Vance turned back around quickly, laughing softly at his friend's childishness.

When Finn and Bruce woke up, they were relieved to find that the vehicle they were in was parked in a McDonald's parking lot. The two boys stretched, leaning away from each other. "You need to pee or anything?" Finn nodded his head at the other boy's question, slightly hunching over as his bladder began to claw at his insides. Just in time, Vance and Robin came out of the fast-food restaurant, one with bags of food and one with the drinks.
"Good morning sleepyheads, we got you breakfast." Robin yawned while handing everyone their food and drinks, head slightly falling on Vance's shoulder when he finished. "Bruce and I are going to go to the bathroom real quick, be right back." Vance nodded at the two, keeping a careful eye on them as they exited the vehicle and crossed the street. He looked away when they had gone inside, turning his head towards his now sleeping friend. He reached a hand in the back of him, grabbing a small throw blanket and placing it over the other boy. He pushed Robin backwards gently so he would be in a more comfortable position, smiling afterwards at the sleepy smile the boy was wearing.
Bruce and Finn returned not long after, immediately scarfing down their food and drinks. Vance ate a small amount of his food, not being too hungry at the given moment.
"Who wants to do directions for me? Robin's asleep and I don't feel like waking him back up."
Finn shrugged, grabbing the small map that was laid on Robin's chest. He began to tell the blonde directions as he and the other two put their seatbelts back on.
"Let's get this show back on the road."
