"Always the fool with the slowest heart" - @dazed_flims
Finn wiped at his nose, staining the white of the tissue held tightly in his hand a maroon color. He winced at the burning feeling that shot through his arms and legs, steadying himself with a hand on the sink as he avoided his figure in the mirror.
Why was he always a target.
The bathroom door opened, shaking on its worn hinges as it banged against the wall and bounced forward. Finn didn't look at who had came in, too occupied with cleaning himself up to care.
"Finn." The voice echoed through the bathroom, bounding off of the various metal objects as the person stepped towards the wounded boy. Finn put a hand up, stopping them from taking another step as he let out a breathy exhale.
"Robin. Please just-, not now." Finn stood up straighter, eyes closing briefly as more pain shot through him. A hand was placed on his back, circles tracing into his skin as he pushed back tears.
"Finn. Let me help you." Finn shook his head, wobbling slightly as the action made him dizzy. The last thing he needed was for Robin to start a fight with someone.
"It's fine. I'm fine." There was a sigh and the hand on his back was removed. "You don't look 'fine'." Finn moved away from the sink, instead opting to sit on the bathroom floor.
"Just leave it Robin." Finn's jaw was clenched, face hot with pain as he scrunched his eyes closed. Robin crouched down in front of him, though he didn't reach out to touch his face. "Finn. You're my boyfriend. It's my job to protect you."
Finn's eyes opened, narrowing in annoyance towards the boy staring at him. "It's not your job. I'm tired of all the fighting. The suspensions. You getting in trouble over me." Robin's gaze softened and he stood, holding out a hand for the other boy.
Finn took the hand, allowing himself to be pulled up and pressed against Robin's side as the boy led them out of the bathroom.
"Do you want to go to my house? It's already the end of the day, basically." Robin brushed a strand of hair out of Finn's face as they walked, hands pulling him even closer when someone would walk past. Finn nodded his head, too tired to respond anymore than he already did.
The walk to Robin's house was quiet. Wind brushed at the two boys' faces, making their skin turn pink at the touch. Finn enjoyed the feeling, his wounds not hurting as bad because of it.
Robin held the door open for Finn, smiling softly as the boy stepped inside and slid his shoes off. Robin did the same after a passing moment, latching his hand into Finn's before leading them towards his bedroom.
Finn propped his head against one of Robin's many pillows, sighing as his head sunk against it. Robin laid next to him, holding him by the waist and pepper-kissing his forehead.
"I know you don't like me fighting. But you're not-, people can't just keep hurting you." Robin had a softness to his voice, not wanting to anger Finn by the topic. The boy next to him breathed deep and sat up.
"I can handle myself Robin. I don't need-,"
"You did today though. Didn't you?"Finn ran a hand over his face and shook his head.
"It's not your fucking job to protect me dude. You're not a fucking bodyguard."
Robin sat up completely, face red with anger at Finn's words. He knows what he is and what he's not. He's just trying to keep him safe.
"Who's going to protect you if I don't?"
"I'm capable of doing things on my own."
"Really? You get bullied at school and hit by your f-"
"Fuck you. Fuck you Robin."Finn stood from the bed, tears threatening to spill from his eyes as he walked to the bedroom door. Robin stood too, instantly regretting what he had said once he caught sign of the tears on his boyfriend's face.
"Finn. Finn-, wait. I didn't-,"
Finn laughed, though his sobs drowned it out.
"Fuck off. I'm going home."
Robin went to grab the boy's hand, unfortunately being too late in doing so as Finn had already walked out of the room and slammed the door behind him.
