What does unrequited love feel like?
What does it feel like to love someone who doesn't love you?

Bruce Yamada would describe it as something identical to the feeling you get right before you throw up. That 'my-heart-is-in-my-stomach-trying-to-claw-it's-way-out' feeling

It definitely didn't feel great.

Bruce had a schedule. A Vance Hopper sight seeing schedule.

On days that Bruce was free, he'd make sure he was somewhere Vance was. The two boys never interacted, not even in the slightest, but Bruce was infatuated with the blonde boy.

Currently, Bruce was walking to the Grab N' Go. Baseball practice was the next day and the boy had already completed his homework during school hours. Therefore, Bruce was free to do as he pleases.

As Bruce approached the small corner store, he spotted a familiar head of blonde hair through the window.

Vance Hopper.

Bruce's heart felt as if it had settled in the lowest part of his stomach. His mind became blank, the boy slowly beginning to zone out. A car honked loudly, startling Bruce out of his 'trance'. The boy's face turned a deep shade of pink and he quickly made his way to the front of the store.

Bruce sighed, his palms slightly sweaty, and opened the door to the Grab N' Go.

The cold inside air hit Bruce's face harshly. The noise of crinkling wrappers and the infamous pinball machine made way into Bruce's ears. The boy smiled, walking in to a nearby aisle close to the machine he knew the blonde was positioned at.

"Vance you're going to beat your high score!"
Bruce's head slightly raised at the statement.
"I have eyes. I can clearly see that."
Bruce smiled softly.

Moving farther into the aisle, Bruce could make out the pinball machine. He could also see the person controlling it. Of course, Vance had his back to Bruce seeing as he had to be faced forward to play the game. Bruce's heart still swooned for the sight in front of him.

A loud tune erupted from the pinball machine and a light shone brightly from it, illuminating the areas close by. Vance cheered, an enormous grin on his face.

He had beaten his high score!

Bruce grinned, mentally congratulating Vance. Bruce knew it had taken the blonde 2 months to beat the score. He had been here the last time Vance had beat a high score. The reaction from it remained the same each time.

Bruce, feeling as though he spent enough time watching the other boy, grabbed a box of skittles from the nearby shelf and quickly made his way to the counter. The boy took one last look at Vance before paying for his candy and quietly exiting the store.

Vance looked at the door of the Grab N' Go which was now slightly swaying back and forth. A small frown made way on to the blonde's face.

He wished Bruce had stayed longer.

See, Bruce wasn't the only one who had been watching. Vance also knew things about Bruce. He also had a schedule. When Vance wasn't at the Grab N' Go, he was at Bruce's baseball games. He'd make sure to stay in the back, hidden from the eyes of the other boy. When Bruce wasn't at his baseball games, he'd sometimes be at the park. Unsurprisingly, so would Vance. Bruce would never see the blonde though. Vance made sure of it.

So when Bruce had left earlier than he usually did, Vance was a little upset. But the blonde would just have to wait until the following day to see the boy. He'd sit on the bleachers, the ones all the way in the back, and he's watch Bruce play baseball. He'd cheer quietly when the boy would score a point for his team, and he'd cheer a little louder when he would hit a home run.
_

This would go back and forth for almost 4 months until Vance said something to Bruce at the Grab N' Go. He caught Bruce staring at him from his usual aisle and he chose to confront him. Bruce had blushed, embarrassed at being caught, but smiled hard when Vance asked him to a movie that would come out the next night.

The two boys hit it off after that, becoming inseparable ever since.
