Laughter bubbled through the air, the summer sun tucking itself behind the leaf-filled trees until early morning. The smell of marshmallows lingered in the backyard, smoke drifting upwards in a scented mixture of sweets and cigarettes.
"If you two are gonna wrestle, don't do it near the fucking fire!" Finney cupped his hands round his mouth, knees tucked to his chest as he pushed his back against his fold-up chair. Bruce laughed next to him, dark hair blowing softly in the wind as he smiled.
Finney took in moments like these, swallowed them and shoved them deep into his heart. His mind was filled with memories of his best friends, of Robin. Cherished ones.
"I know you love your boyfriend and all but, uh, there's no way he's winning this one man." Bruce cracked open a soda, fizz bubbling out of it wildly. Finney laughed, lips upturned into a grin as he shook his head. "Let me have my fun, would ya?"
A few feet ahead, Vance tackled Robin onto the ground. The two boys rolled around for a moment, laughing as the warmth of the fire tickled their skin. Finney yelled at them distantly, to which they both instantly obliged to.
Vance pinned Robin to the ground, smiling viciously.
"Fuck, fuck, fuck." Robin laughed between breaths, thrashing about on the grass as Vance counted to three.
"Come on Robin, get up!" Finney cheered from where he sat, happily taking a sip of Bruce's soda when it was handed to him. Robin looked at his boyfriend, smiling.
Vance had almost reached one, his counting running slow as Robin grinned. The blonde gasped, choking out a laugh as Robin switched their positions and pinned him.
"Fuck you Arellano." Vance lay still on the ground, accepting defeat. Robin shook his head. "No thank you, Hopper."
The wrestling match ended shortly after that, a twenty-dollar bill subtly being handed to Finney in exchange.
"Pleasure doing business with you Bruce."
"Oh, fuck you."
