Finn and Robin slumped down next to each other, the coldness of the bus seats slightly numbing their backs. Bruce and Vance were on either side of them, both trying their best not to fall asleep.
Fall break had just begun and the four boys decided a trip to New York would be fun. The idea had initially been brought up by Vance, who had said he had nothing else to do, mainly as a joke. Then Robin agreed, Bruce shortly after. Finn was the last to agree. His father had thrown a tantrum about it for a couple of days before he finally let the boy go.
Now here the four boys were. On a small city bus, sitting on icicle temperature seats, half-awake.
Bruce had went over some ground rules with all of them, mainly Finn, a couple of days before the trip. The main rule was that no one should go anywhere alone if they could help it. If they had to leave due to an emergency or something urgent, they needed to make sure their phone was at full charge. That way they could get in contact with another boy from the group.

When tall buildings were seen through the small bus windows, and the air got just a pinch chillier, the boys smiled at each other in excitement. They were officially in New York.

"Okay, remember the rules. Don't separate from the group unless it cannot be helped. If you do get separated, make sure your phone is charged."
Bruce had explained the number one rule with a smile but his voice was stern. He really didn't want to lose one of his friends in a city he's never been to.
The rest of the boys nodded their head in response, smiling softly when Bruce's posture relaxed and he seemed to brighten up.
The first thing on the agenda was finding somewhere to eat. None of the boys have had an actual meal since the day prior and their stomachs grumbling showed just that. Bruce insisted that they go to some fancy looking restaurant, saying that it would give them a 'real New York feel'. Robin had shaken his head, claiming that they needed to instead go to a run-down looking diner that smelled so highly of grease each boy could taste it. They had gotten a large pepperoni pizza, smiling wide when they had found the food there actually tasted alright. Finn congratulated Robin on finding such a place, Vance rolled his eyes but the smile on his face betrayed the 'annoyed' look he was going for.
After eating, Finn suggested that they go look at the cool-looking stores they had passed by on the bus. Bruce agreed but instead of going to the music store like Finn wanted to, he suggested they go to the thrift stores instead. Finn didn't agree on that, wanting very badly to go to the music store like he had planned. Vance insisted that the group split into pairs so each person could do what they wanted. Vance and Finn would be together, both wanting to get new records. Bruce and Robin would go together, both wanting to get cool 'vintage' clothes.
Bruce reminded Vance and Finn of the rules one last time before he and Robin made their way to the store opposite them.

Vance and Finn had been walking for quite some time. They didn't remember the exact direction in which the store was located, but they were sure they'd find it nevertheless. Finn was a little ways ahead of Vance, skipping slowly on the sidewalk below. Vance didn't keep his eyes on him too much, too absorbed in the music playing through his earbuds. Although, he probably should've kept a good eye on his best friend because when he looked up,
