Y/n cowers behind a food truck as absolute carnage came down around him. What was supposed to be a simple interview with Spider-Man had turned into all our war as self proclaimed nemesis Mr. Negative came to kill the arachnid themed superhero.

Gwenpool: Stay there, Y/n. We got this!

Fighting against Martin Li were a group of four heroes: Gwenpool, Vision, Scarlet Witch and -of course- Spider-Man. Li was currently locked in a power struggle with Wanda as their respective energy beams clashed against each other. Vision flies in at top speed and punches Mr. Negative in his face- sending him across the street and through a shop window.

Vision: Your establishment will be compensated for the damages.

Parker then swings by and tethers Martin to the floor via webs. This is not effective as Li rips himself from the bondage rather quickly. It is at this point that Gwen enters the fray with sticks of dynamite. She throws the explosives one by one at Martin who manages to firm most of the blasts by absorbing what energy he can.

Spider-Man: GWENPOOL! You're gonna bring the whole building down!

Gwen turns and shrugs at him, her dropping the ball allows Li to strike her in the back, sending her flying into the air. Parker uses his webs to slingshot himself into the air in order for him to catch her and deposit her safely on the sidewalk. Martin aims his hand for an energy blast but is deterred by the beam emitting from Vision's forehead. He briefly holds it back with his hand before dodging out of the way.

Vision: This is your final opportunity to negotiate peacefully.

Mr. Negative: It's the spider I want! Leave now before you get hurt!

Vision: So be it...

Vision bolts forward once again and prepares to phase through Mr. Negative's negative energy attack. However, an unfortunate outcome stemmed from his move. As the energy passes through Vision's phasing body: it begins to rip his atoms apart in nanoseconds. A final, fearful look passes his face before he explodes in a flash of white and blue light. Vision was no more.

I Y/n: No...

The mind stone is the only part of the android to remain intact, it falls to the ground and tumbles down the drain. Everyone remains silent and still for a brief moment before all notice the blazing red hue in Wanda's eyes. She bares her teeth in anger before falling to sorrow. She screams, and red energy explodes from her at Mach speed- flooding the street. Y/n sees it all in slow motion, he watches the energy consume Spider-Man, Martin Li and his own beloved Gwen, all disintegrating horrifically at it's touch. Wanda's scream the only sound for the destruction.

Scarlet Witch: GRAHHH!

Just before the energy can reach Y/n: he feels a metal hand clamp down upon his shoulder before his surroundings disappear from him. He awakens from his nightmare in a derelict room, attempting to jolt up only to be thwarted by two men holding him down by the arms. One looked to be middle aged and wore a strange costume, the second was more elderly and wore a blue and orange jumpsuit.

Man: Y/n, calm down!

Elderly Man: He's having another fit!

Man: I'll get the professor!

Y/n is left pinned down by the elderly man. He takes the time to notice that this stranger had a metal arm and connected the dots that this was the man who saved him from being vaporised by Wanda Maximoff.

Y/n: You...

The attempt at communication gets the man to ease up.

Elderly Man: You remember me yet, Y/n?

Y/n: I've never seen you before. You got me out of that nightmare.

Elderly Man: Wasn't a nightmare. You clearly don't remember, but we've had this conversation before.

At this point: the first man returns with a face Y/n actually did recognise.

Charles Xavier: Cable, let him up.

The elderly man addressed as Cable kindly allows Y/n to sit up so he may observe Charles and the other currently unnamed man.

Charles Xavier: Y/n, do you know who I am?

Y/n: Of course I do. You're Charles Xavier, I stayed at your mansion for a month and did a few odd jobs for you.

Charles Xavier: You did. Such as saving Logan here from MODOK's clutches.

The first man (now identified as Logan) grunts and passes Y/n a quick look.

Charles Xavier: What's the last thing you remember?

Y/n: Gwen... my Gwen. What did Wanda do?

Wolverine: Oh, great. He's gone back to factory friggin reset.

Cable: Will the plan still work?

Charles Xavier: It will. Y/n, will you come with me?

Y/n follows Charles as he rolls out of the rotting room and gazes upon the outside world. The sky was red with black clouds and the ground was soil, cracked and dry, almost desert-like. Abandoned buildings were scattered across the landscape, made all the more eerie by the fact that there seemed to be no other life than the three men Y/n was with.

Y/n: What the hell happened here?

There was no sound, no wind no anything. The silence was deafening and made Y/n feel as though he was being crushed underneath its weight. Though he found himself terrified to speak. As if some omnipresent force was listening in.

Charles Xavier: You are exactly right. She may indeed be listening.

Y/n: Do you have to read my mind?

Charles Xavier: Apologies, looking after you this past year has required I do so.

Y/n: Looking after me?

Charles Xavier: Scarlet Witch's energy blast eradicated all life on this planet. It happens faster than one can process a thought, but first it breaks you mentally, then it rips apart... atom by atom. Cable was able to retrieve you before you died but your mind was partially damaged. Over the past year you've experienced amnesia-based fits. Though you've never forgotten so much.

Y/n: Wait, Wanda killed everyone?

Charles Xavier: Everyone and everything. Human, mutant, inhuman, plant and animal. She's spent the year desperately searching for the gem that rested in Vision's circuitry hoping that she can bring him back.

Y/n: Sorry, I'm not following. If all life was eradicated then how come the four of us are still here?

Charles Xavier: Logan possesses a healing factor so strong that he was able to survive the blast. I myself was in my Cerebro chamber. A wall of psychic energy kept me safe.

Y/n: What about me and Cable?

Charles Xavier: Cable is a time traveler from the future, he went to the onset of the event to retrieve you and take you to safety.

Y/n: What's so special about me?

Charles' wheelchair turns so that he may make eye contact with Y/n.

Charles Xavier: You're the one who's going to ensure this never happens.

Charles rolls back inside, leaving Y/n to his thoughts. The last human stares out across the red desert- genuinely terrified for the fist time since the night he met Gwen...
