Jean Grey: Hey! You wanna slow down?

Charles Xavier: No.

Jean Grey chases the chair-bound Charles Xavier through the bustling halls of the School for Gifted Youngsters, Xavier seemingly not paying attention to his surroundings as students dive out of the way of his chair. The Professor is forced to a halt when he impacts someone who goes nowhere after being struck.

Colossus: Professor, what are you doing?

Phoenix then catches up with them as Scott and Ororo turn up to observe all the commotion.

Jean Grey; That's the question of the day, would you like to share your thoughts, Professor?

Charles Xavier: I would like to act on them, Ms. Grey.

Cyclops: Thoughts, what thoughts?

Storm: What's going on, Professor?

Charles takes his eyes off of the 'road' and looks across the faces of the X-Men. Back in New York: crowds disperse from the courthouse as a police car pulls away from the building and begins to drive away.

Reporter: Mary Jane Watson here, not one hour after Judge Kirby's ruling and opinions are already surging online. In a decision that split the public straight down the middle: Kirby acquitted Luke Cage of his crimes on account of his contributions to society whilst Y/n L/n is being escorted directly to the Metropolitan Correctional Centre where he is expected to serve a ten-year sentence for obstruction of justice.

Y/n stares out of the window of the vehicle that was taking him to the next decade of his life. Every now and then they would drive past one of the members of the crowd, either hecklingn him or offering their sympathies. It was hard to tell from inside the car.

Reporter: Though many believe Luke Cage to be a hero and are satisfied by the results of the case: plenty of people have come out in support of Mr. L/n, complaining once again that judges have decided in favour of superheroes simply because they are of a higher focus than us mere mortals. Among those upset with the results are the Avengers themselves, they have already released a statement which we will play for you now.

The news channel broadcasts an audio file on the air with a picture of the Avengers lineup beside it.

Wasp: We are deeply saddened that the two parties could not come to a settlement. L/n was and still is a trusted affiliate of the Avengers as is Luke Cage. We will not let personal conflict interfere with our cause.

The news report is switched off as it is revealed Vision was watching the broadcast. His partner enters their chambers- causing him to promptly stand.

Wanda Maximoff: Knock Knock.

Vision smiles and motions for her to come in. He sits back down on their bed and she joins him on the mattress.

Wanda Maximoff: You cooking up some plan to get Y/n out of prison?

Vision: Excuse me?

Wanda Maximoff: I though he was your best friend?

Vision: He is. But we are in a precarious enough situation with both Y/n and Cage drawing heat from the public eye.

Wanda Maximoff: So? Luke isn't an Avenger.

Vision: Neither is Y/n. And as S.H.I.E.L.D. Is not public knowledge: he holds no grounds.

Wanda Maximoff: So you're just letting them lock him up for 10 years?

Vision: What would you have me do?

Elsewhere: Y/n is more or less thrown into a prison cell- now clad in the iconic orange jumpsuit.

Policewoman: Get yourself acquainted.
