BITTER SWEET
Emperor Fen's second son has taken a stiff seat in Master Woo's second grandson's lap. His brain had long since stopped working, and he had no idea what to do. He was nervous and scared.
Hearing Wanji's compassionate call made him fully realize and comprehend what his childhood friend truly meant by his words.
No, I don't want to hear it, and I certainly don't want to feel it. Wei gulps down, trying to remain calm while convincing himself that he did not understand his childhood friend's words at all, that what he was thinking right now is not what it appears, and that he was simply overthinking things.
"Lan Zhan, I truly believe that it's getting lat..." His words were cut short as Lan Zhan suddenly pinned him down to the bed with no heads up.
They're now staring at each other, one of them panting from shock and fear of what the other person might do to him next.
Before he could say anything, Master Woo grandson made his move and leaned beside Emperor Fen son into the bed, re-embracing him.
This relieved Wei's tense body. He is now facing his childhood friend's sturdy chest while awkwardly remaining still in Lan Zhan's embrace, not moving an inch for worry that if he protests or moves away even an inch, the person in front of him will do something unpredictable again.
For a brief moment, a deafening silence encircled them before one of them spoke up.
"I know it's wrong, but let me be selfish with you for now; let me have you just for today," Lan Zhan says.
"What about my emotions?" Wei asked, his face frowning in displeasure.
What Wanji said made him no longer feel afraid and finally regain his composure; he wants to express his feelings as well, so he continued without waiting for Lan Zhan to respond.
"Don't you realize your behavior is making me nervous and confused? All I can think about right now is that you are only my childhood friend, and you being so intimate with me makes me feel uncomfortable and uneasy. You do whatever you want as long as it makes you happy, but what about me? Don't you consider what I'm thinking and how I feel about you?"
Master Woo's second grandson remained silent; he didn't know what to say at the time, and hearing no response from him caused Wei to continue saying what he wanted to say to him.
"You already know that what you're doing behind your wife's back is wrong, which is why we shouldn't do this and you should suppress your feelings for me no matter how difficult it is, which I know is difficult. I..." Wei paused in the middle as his heart became heavy, making it difficult for him to continue speaking out what he thought of the situation.
But he knows that no matter what he says right now, he would always ended up sounding like a selfish person or him just wanted his childhood friend to leave him alone entirely.
He didn't want it to be that way, but the situation they're in right now is just too complicated for him.
This unexplainable feeling he had inside him is also still a mystery. He needed to solve each problem one at a time as he isn't someone who can find an answer quickly. His not one of those genius people you know? Wei was also concerned about his parents and brother...
Everything is simply too chaotic for him to comprehend. This only increased his anxiety and frustration. He needed time to adjust for the time being.
"I'm perplexed, I'm at a loss; everything happened so quickly, I was unprepared, and fuck! Why do you have to make everything so difficult...? I apologize for my harsh words; but right now, Lan Zhan, I didn't know how I should feel or what I should do."
Wei bit his lower lip in irritation as he remained still in his childhood friend's embrace, while Lan Zhan finally appeared to realize something.
"I understand, it's okay. I apologize for dragging you into this; I should have kept it to myself, but I couldn't help myself. This world had kept you away from me for so long, that I had lost myself endurance in the process. Please forgive me for being selfish," he said as he touched Wei's chin and made him tilt his head so he could look closely at him.
Emperor Fen's second son had finally seen his childhood friend's expression and he was stunned. Lan Zhan was now showing him his sorrowful and lonely expression, which made his breath hitch and his heart feel even heavier. He was rendered speechless.
"You don't need to think about my feelings for you or my situation any further. Just being able to finally say my feelings for you is enough for me, and all I ask of you right now is to allow me to be selfish for the last time. Allow me to hold you until morning, and allow me to sleep with you. Don't worry, I won't do anything that will cause you discomfort anymore. Just let me embrace you like this for the last time."
Hearing him say those selfless words while seeing his despairing expression. Wei could no longer bear the heaviness in his chest and finally let it go by letting some tears fall from his eyes as well as giving Lan Zhan a sad smile.
"Why are you suffering like this...? Why do you have to endure this, I don't understand... You're so unfair, why are you doing this to yourself and to me, you're so unfair... I told you I didn't know what to do, why you are like this," Emperor Fen's second son asked, but Lan Zhan only gave him a slight smile, which made his heart ache even more.
He already knew the answer and couldn't change as it had already happened and it was too late. He was too late; his childhood friend was already trapped inside the cage from which he would never be able to escape. It's unjust.
Wei finally accepted his embrace, tightening his grip on Lan Zhan's waist while sobbing loudly as he drew his face, now wet with tears, into Wanji's well-formed and solid firm chest.
Lan Zhan sighed and felt guilty after seeing him in this state. He had no intention of making the person in his arms cry.
All he wanted to do was to confess everything to him and make things clear, but this happened...
"Sssh... you don't need to think about anything. Go to sleep now," He said, kissing the top of Wei's head.
Then, as if by magic, the person in his embrace truly fell peacefully asleep. Perhaps he was so tired of what he had been through and experienced today, that his body truly listened to his childhood friend and he fell asleep quickly while tears still flowed from his eyes into his cheeks.
"I'm sorry, sweet dreams," Wanji said, kissing Wei's left cheek before snuggling into Emperor Fen's embrace more and closing his eyes to sleep as well.
To be continued.
