TAINTED COLOR
Sizhui took an hour to return to Lan Zhan's residence, carrying the tray full of food alone.
Now facing the sliding door, the youth calls out for the second prince of the Yao clan, who had previously become bored and went on exploring Lan Zhan books inside the room, only to find nothing but boring material to read.
Wei Ying abruptly opened the sliding door for him, and Sizhui was immediately met with his nagging.
"Aish! you, what took you so long? I nearly died of boredom, your brother Hanguang-Jun's room is full of boring stuff, I couldn't find anything entertaining, everything in here is plain," Wei said, causing the youth to laugh briefly before responding.
"Brother Hanguang-Jun only keeps simple things since that's who he's always been," he explains.
"Right, right, I forgot. Come inside now so we can eat. I'm so hungry, what took you so long to come back here anyway?" Wei asks again, helping the youth place the bowl of hot noodle soup on the table.
"Ah, right; I apologize for the delay; my other junior brother informed me that Wen Ning and Jingyi, as well as Brother Lan Xichen, had finally awoken, so I went to see them for a moment before returning here with the food,"
"Jingyi and Wen Ning?" Emperor Fen inquires, surprised to hear the two young men's names come from Sizhui's mouth.
"Did something bad happen to them?"
Sizhui looked at him and nodded, which perplexed the other.
What happened to them, they were only supposed to look after Lan Zhan's wife...
Wei Ying's gaze returns to Sizhui quickly after realizing something.
"Did something happen to Lan Zhan, I mean Hanguang-Jun's wife as well?" He inquires, concerned, not for that woman, but for his childhood friend.
If something truly bad happened to Princess Ding, her clan will hold Lan Zhan accountable. Jeez! This is completely out of control!
Sizhui sat in the chair and replied, his face filled with questions and intense curiosity.
"I don't know, as I previously stated; I also didn't know the entire thing that happened; I have a slight glimpse of it, but I'm afraid if I share it with Prince Wei, I will only cause misinterpretation; so it's better if we wait for Brother Lan Xichen to explain it to us, once he has fully recovered,"
"Right, you're right, and I'm glad to hear the first jade of the cloud clan is also awake," Wei said, taking a seat and turning to face the youth who sat on the other side of the chair, facing the table with him.
"Prince Wei, let's eat," Sizhui suggested merrily, handing him a pair of chopsticks, which the Yao clan's second prince gladly accepted.
"Thank you for the food," Wei said, and they both started eating when Lan Zhan called out his name as if he would never see him again.
They both immediately paused, and everything that followed circulated, only to end up here awkwardly.
"Ha-ha-ha, you eat more Sizhui; your brother Hanguang-Jun is truly a one-of-a-kind man, so affectionate friend I must say, hahaha, come on, eat, eat ha-ha," Wei said, uncomfortably attempting to lighten the mood inside the room.
While also feels as if he had done something wrong, even though the only person who did wrong here is the person who is now sleeping peacefully in bed.
True, he did nothing wrong; it was his childhood friend's fault.
Right, that's right. Lan Zhan is to blame, not me.
Wei nodded in agreement, then resumed eating with a relaxed and collected face, unconcerned about what had just happened and simply enjoying his food.
After eating, the youth cleaned all of their belongings and went out, bidding farewell to Emperor Fen's second and announcing that he would now rest.
When night fell, everyone in the cloud clan was finally able to retire and call it a day, but some remained to maintain and stabilize the barrier around the area.
Wei Ying now closed each sliding window inside the second jade of the cloud clan room, spreading calmness of silence, then went to sit at his childhood friend's bedside, looking at him to see if he is fine, but all he saw was Lan Zhan's face filled with sweat, frowning, and looking like he was having another nightmare since he began to mumble his name once more.
"Wei Ying... No, Wei..."
Emperor Fen's second son sighed, unable to swallow the sight of his childhood friend looking weak, his heart stuffy and disturbed.
"Hays... you idiot, how deep are you're adoration for me that you have nightmares because of me?" he said, slightly pulling his face closer to get a better look at Master Woo's second grandson's face, while his right hand caressed it until he realized Lan Zhan's skin felt cold.
Something doesn't feel right.
Wei Ying feels his childhood friend's body further with both hands, and it's truly cold. He returns his gaze to Lan Zhan, whose face now had turned pale.
What is going on?
He panicked and grabbed Master Woo's second grandson's shoulder with both hands, shaking it slightly so the other could wake up.
"I'm Lan Zhan. Can you hear me, Lan Zhan? Lan Zhan! FUCK! You need to wake up, idiot! LAN ZHAN! Sizhu... Sizhui, I need to call Sizhui," he hurriedly stood up, went over to the sliding door, opened it, and immediately went towards the disciples he saw.
"Can you tell me where Sizhui resides? Immediately summon Sizhui. Hurry and call for him!"
"Prince Wei?" a familiar voice rang behind him.
Wei Ying quickly turned around, only to see Lan Xichen standing up with Sizhui's support.
His eyes immediately light up with hope, and he runs through them, gulping down as he forcibly tried to calm down his racing thoughts and emotions.
But his body refused to do so as his eyes were now filled with tears and his body shuddered as if he was cold on the inside, but he was truly scared, scared of losing Lan Zhan as well.
"Brother Xichen, help him, please. I don't know what happened, but Lan zhan suddenly turned pale and his body felt cold; I don't know what to do, I... please, I can't, we can't lose him as well. I can't, I can't..." Wei begs, slowly losing strength in both knees as he now kneels, loudly sobbing and shaking in front of the two people who look shocked and confused hearts each raising with trepidation.
To be continued.
