THE GIFT

Wei continued petting the bird for a moment, unaware that the other person was looking at him with guilt and hidden sadness.

Jui observes him for a long time before asking.

"Does his highness appreciate his gift?"

Emperor Fen's disciple smiled, attempting to hide the deep emotion he was feeling further away from him.

"Very much, but I don't have a cage or anything for him to use," Wei expressed his concern as he turned to face his father's disciples.

"His highness, do not be concerned; Brother Xichen said that Yoyo is a spiritual bird, and the bracelet is connected to him; if you call Yoyo's name, he will immediately go back inside the bracelet, and when you call him out again, he will come out again," Jui said.

"What? Spiritual bird? Such a powerful bird, I have no idea how to raise it!" Wei exclaimed, concerned. He began to dislike the gift that had been given to him.

He assumed this bird was similar to other birds, but it is much more! For God's sake! How could he take care of such a bird if he is not a powerful person? He couldn't accept such a unique and vulnerable gift.

"No, thank you. I won't accept such a gift. Tell, brother Xichen, my thanks and apologies for I can't trust myself to raise such a valuable creature, I don't have the strength it requires," He said, rejecting the gift automatically.

"Don't worry, Prince Wei; Brother Xichen said you could ask Brother Zhan for more information on how to raise Yoyo,"

Hearing the person who had just been with him the night before made Wei look at Jui with a surprised expression.

Lan Zhan? Him? But I can't! We simply cannot! At least not right now; relying on him will only torture him. For God's sake, he has feelings for me!

We can't spend too much time together or it will be difficult for both of us! Aish! This elder brother of his may be thinking, we need to spend time catching up on our history. I'm thankful, but not right now; the timing isn't right. Jeez!

Seeing him being silent and spacing out for a moment, made Jui concerned.

"Prince Wei? Is everything okay with you?" He inquires, dragging his master's second son out of his own thoughts.

"Uh? Oh yes, I am. I'm fine, but is it really necessary for the second jade of the cloud clan to accompany me in learning how to raise Yoyo? Can't I just do it myself? Is there anything I can read to learn how to raise Yoyo?" Wei inquires. He truly didn't want to spend time with Lan Zhan just to figure out how to raise Yoyo. It's not a good idea, at all.

They both need some space for a while, I mean he wanted to check in on his childhood friend every now and then, but their situation makes it difficult for him to do so. It's overly complicated! Urgh!!! I just want to stay in my room and do nothing for the rest of my life! I despise this so much!

"Forgive me, your highness, but I didn't know; I only know what Brother Xichen told me to," Jui replied, prompting Wei to nod.

You're saying that person only gave you one option. He confirmed my earlier speculation about him.

This isn't going to help me!

Wei sighed and closed his eyes for a moment to calm the raging fire that was attempting to awaken within him.

He opened his eyes again once he was fully restrained and put out of it, only to see his father's disciple now wearing a suspicious and anxious expression.

"What's the matter?" He asks, perplexed.

"Pardon me, your highness, I just remembered something. Please excuse my expression," Jui replied, blinking in surprise as he heard his master's second son's words, giving Wei the impression that something was wrong with him today.

It's his first time seeing his father's disciple act like this, which is both refreshing and strange, but he couldn't think about it any further. For he thought it was something personal, and he is not one to get involved in other people's affairs, except in the case of Lan Zhan. Anyway...

"All right, if you say so. Later, after lunch, accompany me to speak with brother Xichen about Yoyo."

"We simply cannot! We can't, yo-your highness, "Jui says to him abruptly, stuttering his last sentence, leading Wei to believe that something is seriously wrong; it's bothering him, and he can't ignore it any longer.

"Okay, Jui, stop pretending and tell me what's wrong and why you're acting strange today. You know how much I despise people who lie," Emperor Fen's second son now wears a straight face as he spoke in a firm but considerate tone of voice full of serious warning.

Jui kept his gaze on him as he chastised himself for being careless today; he couldn't believe he had openly shown his emotion to his master's second son today; this had never happened to him before, and it irritated him, but he kept his cool and now wears his usual expression in front of their second prince.

"Forgive me, your highness. I didn't mean to instill doubt in your mind. I meant to say that we won't be able to leave for the time being because Brother Xichen had delivered a letter earlier, saying that they spotted the other clan's presence the other night lingering on the mountain. He command a tight secure all over the place in silence today as well as he told me that we should all stay put at this mountain for five days, for our all safety." He stated, his face now sharp.

"FIVE DAYS?" Wei exclaimed, feeling troubled. He couldn't believe what was happening right now, and he couldn't help but clench his fists into a rage.

'Those bastards clan has finally arrived to cause trouble for the cloud clan, ha.'

He was worried about the entire cloud clan, but he couldn't do anything but obey Xichen's command. After all, he lacked the strength and capability to assist. If only he was strong enough, he would face those two clans and kill them on his own...

Wei's gaze traveled in disdain and came to rest on Yoyo.

Right, he had Yoyo now, maybe Yoyo could help him...

Emperor Fen's second son went to touch Yoyo's head again, smiling and saying.

"Yoyo,"

The large bird then transformed into violet-pink dust, which entered the bracelet immediately. This made the Yao clan's second prince smirk and feel content while staring firmly at his bracelet, mind full of killing desire. He had finally discovered something that could help him become useful and possibly strong.

To be continued.
