WARM RAIN
Lan Zhan felt the world spin around him when he heard Sizhui say such a thing to him, and he stumbled for a second to straighten his posture.
He couldn't believe what he was hearing.
He's not going to believe it. Wei Ying is still alive. He can sense it.
Wei Ying is still alive, but his adopted son has never lied to him.
Lan Zhan looks at Sizhui intently, calming his thoughts and encouraging them not to think too far ahead.
I must see it. I must see it for myself. I'm not going to believe it until I see it for myself.
Master Woo's second grandson took a moment to calm himself and his racing heart before turning around and returning to his elder brother's residence, where he now hurriedly walked to see if what Sizhui told him was true.
But as he nears the location, a blinding white light engulfs his entire body and prevents his eyes from seeing clearly, causing him to grunt in rage and wake up abruptly sitting in his bed, shouting his childhood friend's name louder than the lion, sweat beaded on his forehead alongside his fast and uneven breathing.
At the same time, two people who had been sitting comfortably on the wooden chair while eating warm noodle soup in front of the table full of food had stiffened, both mouths hanging wide open, right hand holding a chopstick with full long white noodles, upon hearing the person who had been sleeping in the bed for one-hour shouts.
The person with white silver hair, who was the first to awaken from shock, reinserted the chopsticks into the white jade bowl and turned to face the person on the bed, who was still in the same position asking.
"Aiya, Lan Zhan-ah. You almost made us choke from eating, what's wrong with you? Why do you shout my name like that? Did you have a nightmare or something, ha?" Wei Ying asks, standing up and strolling over to his childhood friend's bedside, who now looks at him in a daze that quickly turned into full relief.
"Is that you, Wei Ying?" Lan Zhan called out, his voice hoarse and sounding as if he needed assurance, which made Emperor Fen's second son suspect something was wrong with him and look at him curiously.
"Eh? Of course, it's me. If it's not me, why do I sound as if I'm lacking in manners right now? Lan Zhan, do you truly have a nightmare? Eyyo... Does the second cloud clan jade want a warm hug from the second..."
Lan Zhan suddenly and without warning pulled him into a tight hug, catching Wei Ying off guard and making him panic as he gave a side glance to his side, checking to see if the youth with them right now is not looking at them, and he is, looking...
Wei Ying awkwardly smiled at Sizhui, who was befuddled staring at them before looking away timidly and continuing to eat his warm noodle soup as if he hadn't just seen something surprising.
His adopted father is not fond of being touchy and expressive, so seeing him take advantage to show affection to others made Sizhui feel he had seen a side of Hangguang-Jun he had never seen before, it was so eye-opening.
Emperor Fen's second son, who had just experienced an awkward moment, now feels uneasy; he couldn't help but think of himself as someone who had just had an affair with a married man, which made him feel wrong.
He used both hands to pull himself away from the person who was tightly hugging his waist, but the other only tightened his embrace, making Wei sigh helplessly.
Thinking that his childhood friend had a persistent personality, he didn't protest anymore and just stayed put, patting the other's back, which made him realize that Lan Zhan was shuddering.
He was taken aback.
Did he truly just have a nightmare?
Wei went straight to gently stroke the other's back to calm him down.
"Lan Zhan, did you have a nightmare about me?" Wei inquired, and Lan Zhan only hummed in response.
"What kind of nightmare was it? Hays, forget it, it's just a nightmare. Look, I'm fully well and still breathing, right? You rest back and collect yourself, okay?"
Lan Zhan hums once more in response to his words.
Master Woo's second grandson finally calmed down and let go of his childhood friend's slim waist after hearing the other soothing words and realizing it was all a nightmare, but he still felt anxious.
The second jade of the cloud clan raised his head and said.
"Do not go anywhere," his voice firm and still tinged with fear from the nightmare.
Wei smiled sweetly at him, touching his childhood friend's cheeks with his right hand; seeing this childish side of his stern childhood friend again after so many years made him feel soft inside.
He used to act like this whenever he was worried about something.
I'm curious about what kind of nightmare you have that causes you to act this way.
Right. For the time being, the most important thing is to completely calm him; other people's opinions about his actions toward him are irrelevant.
They're all strangers to me, a waste of time to be concerned about.
So, is Sizhui a stranger to him too? Nope, not at all.
But the point is to calm Lan Zhan down, and that's all he should be concerned with right now."Em, I'm not going anywhere; I'm staying here; you go rest now, okay?"
Lan Zhan gave him a nod and a slight smile.
Seeing the smile he hadn't seen in a long time stunned Wei for a moment, causing his mind to lose its ability to function properly, while Lan Zhan now lay back in his bed to rest, unaware of the other's struggles.
After a fraction of a second. Emperor Fen's second son finally returns to himself and turns around to face the youth, who has been minding his own business and not looking at them the entire time, while deep down wishing he wasn't in the room with them.
Of course, he heard what they were talking about; after all, he'd been trained to be an immortal disciple, but he ignored everything he heard, not caring and just continuing to eat as if he hadn't heard anything.
Earlier, when he saw his brother Hanguang-Jun awake, he wanted to go check on him and see if he was all right, but seeing the two having a moment, such an idea vanished quickly.
He didn't want to disrupt the two's moment because it would exacerbate an already awkward atmosphere.
To be continued.
