THE TAINTED ROSE
Having two people assist him in standing up straight gave the first jade of the cloud clan sense of relief.
"Thank you, both of you," he said, still gasping from exhaustion, sweat beading on his brow.
"Brother Xichen, how's Brother Hanguang-Jun?" Sizhui inquires, his face worried, triggering Master Woo's grandson's son to smile weakly before answering his question.
"He's safe now; his body temperature has already returned to normal; he's now sleeping peacefully; he'll wake up soon," he said.
"I broke the seal and took the ring off his finger; it's inside my chest, hanfu," he sighs contentedly.
"Thank goodness, but what about the spell? Brother Xichen, did you figure out what kind of spell Princess Ding uses in the ring?" Sizhui inquires, curious and relieved that his Brother Hanguang-Jun's life is finally safe, while Zizhen simply listens to both of them, confused and lacking knowledge of all the topics they've been spouting.
"Yes, I've already figured it out," Xichen replied, continuing with his words.
"She used a soul eater spell on Wanji's wedding ring to trap his soul inside and transfer it to the other person's body, which was already a puppet, which will lead to the previous shell being abandoned, becoming rotten, and becoming a corpse," Xichen explains further.
"Since both rings are linked, she will have an easy time ripping Wanji's soul from him and transferring it to others. I'm glad we arrived just in time before everything became too late," His face showed relief.
"Then why does she only do that now? Why not do it from the start if all she wants is to take Brother Hanguang-Jun's soul?" Sizhui stated.
Meanwhile, Xichen took a breather as he felt his body draining and gradually losing the strength to continue speaking, but he still forced himself to answer all of the youth's questions.
"That... I don't know the answers, but I have a theory that she cast the spell a long time ago and was just waiting for the right moment. I had previously read some information in the book about such a spell, and it stated that the spell will only be activated if the object and caster are already far apart,"
"What a scumbag bi*ch!" Zizhen cursed out of nowhere, drawing the attention of the two people standing beside him, who looked at him in surprise.
He still didn't know the entire story, but even if he only knew a portion of it, he deduced that the topic they were discussing involved two members of their sect, one of whom had defied the nature of human limitations.
He'd been listening to them the entire time, and when he heard something sinful coming from the two-person mouth beside him, he couldn't take it any longer and decided to comment out what he deeply felt about the topic.
"How could she have done that to her husband? How could she, after the cloud sect had accepted her and treated her well... ha! That wench is astounding! Shameless wench!" Lan Ouyang Zizhen sneered, ready to fight someone, unconcerned about what the two people might think of him for openly saying such bold and insulting words.
Unaware that his words bring a sense of lightness and comfort to Xichen.
"Everything will be fine from now on, you all don't have to worry." Lan Xichen said.
"Your words have satisfied me today," He added, ruffling the youth's hair and smiling at him.
Zizhen, who tilted his head slightly to look him in the eyes, blushed timidly and responded with a humming shy sound from his mouth.
He was embarrassed as this was the first time he had received slight praise from their Brother Lan Xichen, while he was relieved that he didn't get nagged for saying bad words carelessly in public.
It always felt good to be able to express yourself freely without being nagged by your superior.
This caters to me.
I hope Brother Xichen will always be like this and will not be angry when we said hurtful things openly; it's difficult to leave your anger unsatisfied all the time.
It will give you wrinkles on your face and make you look old quickly since you will always appear straight and neat.
Is tiresome and boring.
"Sizhui, where's Prince Wei?" Xichen asks, turning his attention back to the other youth beside him.
Sizhui was about to respond, but Zizhen beat him to it by using his free hand and pointing his index finger in the direction where they left the second prince of the Yao clan, but no one was there anymore.
What happened to him?
Sizhui became alarmed on the inside.
"Eh? Where did he go? We just left them there earlier," the youth with the innocent face but witty personality exclaimed, making Xichen frown and become nervous.
"Sizhui, have you told Prince Wei everything?" he asks, and the youth on his left side nods.
"I see, go find Prince Wei and see if he's safe; we'll stay here until you return," he orders immediately, and Sizhui gently lets go of the left arm he'd been supporting, nodding and leaving without delay to finish the task assigned to him.
On the way, Sizhui runs into one of their other junior brothers and asks if they've seen the Yao clan's second prince.
"Yes, he went in the direction of senior Xichen's residence," Mingming confirmed, and Sizhui thanked him before dismissing him.
Sizhui was relieved to learn that Emperor Fen's son was safe and returned to Lan Zhan's chamber, where his senior and Zizhen were waiting.
When he arrived, the two people who were supposed to be waiting for him outside were no longer there, so Sizhui opened the sliding door and discovered Hangung-Jun had already awakened, now sitting in a chair he had seated earlier to eat warm noodle soup together with Wei.
While Xichen and Zizhen are sitting on the opposite side of the table.
He appeared revitalized as if he had never been through hardships.
Sizhui is taken aback on the inside.
"Greetings, Brother Hanguang-Jun," he said, joining his palms and extending both hands in front of him to show respect.
Lan Zhan hums his response as he looks at him.
"I suppose Prince Wei is safe, Sizhui?" Xichen inquires, and Sizhui simply nods.
"You two stay outside for a while," Lan Zhan said coldly, prompting Zizhen to sprint from his chair and bid both their seniors goodbye in hurry, which Sizhui did as well.
The two youths stood outside for quite some time until Zizhen became bored and couldn't stop tapping all his tiptoes repeatedly on the wooden floor. He couldn't stand being silent any longer.
"Sizhui, do you think Brother Lan Xichen and Brother Hanguang-Jun are discussing Princess Ding right now?" He inquired, intrigued.
Sizhui's gaze shifted to him, then to the pond three steps in front of them, and he responded.
"I'm not sure,"
To be continued.
