ANTICIPATION
When Wei asked him a question earlier, he truly wanted to respond, but his mind was still a mess from feeling guilty for what he had done, leaving him unable to fully hear all of Emperor Fen's son questions and grasp the exact words he wanted to say.
They're both sitting on the bed now, with Lan Zhan facing Wei back and cleaning the wound he'd caused, and Emperor Fen son sitting in front of him, bored by the silence in his room.
His anger had completely washed away from his mind and heart. Surprisingly, he now felt at ease.
"Lan Zhan," he called, and Master Woo grandson only hummed in his usual deep voice.
"Earlier..." Wei paused, his face hesitant to continue, but he persisted.
He wanted to fully comprehend the unexplainable feelings he had earlier when he witnessed his childhood friend being kissed. No, his not selfish. He has the right to be at peace and to be free of those strange feelings.
For he believes that earlier he may have been just surprised or felt surreal seeing a couple being publicly showy to others. I mean, he'd been isolated from the worlds for far too long to imagine, so he couldn't possibly know everything that people do outside, you know? He only learned things from books and novels he had previously read.
Yes, he is not completely naive; his parents educate him on everything that can keep him safe and away from harm, as well as what can prepare him for adulthood.
His parents and clan are completely open to everything that most people don't think about or understand. In short, he only knew what had been taught to him and what he had read; the outside world was still foreign to him.
"Um, I saw you and your wife walking in the hallway earlier," he said, causing Lan Zhan to stop cleaning his wounds and recall what his wife had done earlier, as well as Wei expression.
This caused Master Woo's grandson to exhale and, could finally think clearly.
"I know, I saw you too,"
Hearing his response, the unexplainable feeling Wei had earlier returned, causing him to frown, feel bothered, and remain silent while feeling confused inside.
"I was about to approach you to explain what had just happened, but you vanished from my vision; I was scared as I thought you had been kidnapped or something, but seeing you safely inside the Dua hall today made me feel ease," Lan Zhan says.
Emperor Fen son found his words hilarious and couldn't help but be entertained, when a sudden realization distracted him and disturbed him.
"Lan Zhan, why would you want to explain what happened to you and your wife to me? You are not required to do so. I have no legal standing. It's between you and your wif—" His words were cut short as Wanji drew him closer to his arms, back hugging him again without warning.
This alarms Wei once more, and he exclaims in panic.
"You, I swear if you bite..."
"I won't, let me finish explaining while I'm holding you," Lan Zhan said firmly, which made Emperor Fen son nod and stay still in his arms obediently, sighing in relief upon hearing his response.
However, this is a rather intimate position, and why would this idiot want to hold him while he explains things to him? Why does it have to be this way when they could just go over and sit on the chair beside the table and talk normally? Had he really lost his mind?
Wei distance himself from his childhood friend a little, but this only makes Lan Zhan tighten his grip on him and make him unable to breathe properly.
'All right, all right, let's just do what he wants; there's no point resisting; he's stronger than I am,' he hurriedly patted Master Woo's second grandson's hand, prompting Wanji to follow suit, and he was able to breathe comfortably again.
