CHASER
Wei Ying nodded after hearing the youth's explanation, a slight headache rising inside his head as he looks at his childhood friend with a disappointed expression.
"Aiyo, you still rush in without thinking about yourself first; you haven't changed,"
"And what about Brother Lan Xichen? What happened to brother Lan Xichen? And where's Hanguang-jun's wife? Princess Ding should be here right now instead of us; she'd been absent for the entire situation; where is she? What's going on?" he wonders.
"All I know is that Brother Xichen was injured, and I have no idea where Brother Hanguang-Jun's wife went; everything is a mess, and all happened so quickly that I lost rack to everyone in our clan, and I ended up not having a profound answer to your question yet, Prince Wei, please forgive me," Sizhui replied, his face complicated and questionable.
"You're right, everything escalated too quickly, and I lost everything in one blink... Everything that's going on right now is making me want to die," Wei said, causing the youth to look at him with an anxious and nervous expression, which he happened to notice.
"Hahahaha, I'm just kidding, just kidding; don't worry, that man on the bed beside my elder brother will not let me die," he said, pointing his right index finger towards the person sleeping silently in the bed, and the youth's face gradually returned to normal.
"Um, you know what I woke up early this morning and still haven't had breakfast. Oh right, can I bother you to ask your junior brothers to bring food for my elder brother to eat as well? He still hasn't eaten breakfast as well as me. Sizhui, can I have some food?" He added, changing the subject with a genuine excuse, but his excuses only made the youth internally shocked.
Food?
Did I hear it right?
The second prince of the Yao clan wants to eat right now?
Prince Wei, who has lost his parents and people, has a strong desire to eat.
Sizhui is in a disbelief trance.
Now that I think about it, how come he still looks calm and positive right now?
No, he must be acting.
According to Brother Hanguang-Jun, the best way to capture your enemy is to not allow it to see through you.
That must be it.
Sizhui's heart couldn't help but tighten inside him.
He must be attempting to remain sober for the sake of both himself and Prince Jiang.
To keep the other from falling into darkness, one must remain sober.
Even in the face of hopelessness, there is still a way; you just have to improvise and accept what you can't restore.
Prince Wei has the potential to be a leader, but he was born to be frail.
It must be difficult to become such.
He's such a strong person; he must have been through a lot to become this stable for so long.
Lan Zhan's adopted son clenched his lips slightly, feeling sad and heavy inside.
In some ways, Prince Wei and Brother Hanguang-Jun are similar.
Wei Ying noticed that the youth had been staring at him for quite some time without saying anything, which made him feel uneasy and suspicious.
"Sizhui?" he called out, waving his right hand in front of the youth's face, who immediately blinked and appeared to have been thinking deeply just now, leading Emperor Fen's second son to believe that the youth was already too tired.
"Sizhui, you must be tired; if you are tired, you can go ahead to your residence and rest; do not worry, I will go get my food myself to the kitchen; I will ask your other sworn brother to lead me to the kitchen later," he added, showing consideration for the other, who now had a panicked expression.
"I, no! I mean it's okay, Prince Wei, I just spaced out for a bit, I apologize, and I will, um. Em, I can ask them to prepare some noodle soup for us," Sizhui replied, his face finally at ease and now sweetly smiling.
"You haven't eaten breakfast yet?" Wei inquires, and Sizhui nods.
"To honestly answer Prince Wei's question, none of my sworn brothers and I have eaten breakfast since brother Hanguang-Jun has assigned us all to different but important tasks until morning,"
"And what was the nature of the task? May I know what task has been assigned to each of you?" He inquires again, and Sizhui nods once more before responding to his query.
"Some of us were assigned to remain on guard while roaming through all sides of our cloud clan peak, while others were tasked with maintaining a strong barrier around the entire area; my other sworn brothers who were assigned to create the barrier were still at it until today,"
Strict security and a strong barrier...
Why would Lan Zhan do something like that? Is this related to what happened the day before?
What happened after we left Moju Mountain?
Also, where did the corpse puppet that I heard about the other day come from?
How come it reappears the other day after all of our people have died?
Emperor Fen's second son sensed something was off, and his mind began to speculate that the two jade of the cloud clan were keeping something from him once more.
His heart is now pounding impatiently, but he remains calm on the outside, with no change in expression.
"I see... that means none of you have gotten any rest either; you should go ahead and get us some food to eat so you can rest after it; I'll be here waiting for you to return with the food you mentioned."
"Em, I'll ask my trusted junior brother to bring some food to Prince Jiang Cheng as well," Sizhui replied, and Wei simply nodded gratefully.
The youth then stood up and exited the chamber, leaving Wei Ying alone with his childhood friend, who may have once again hidden something from him.
Emperor Fen's second son looks at Master Woo's second grandson, feeling conflicted inside.
"I hope you're not hiding anything from me; Lan Zhan, don't lose my trust in you; I don't want to face this alone; I need you by my side, so hurry up and get well soon, idiot; I need my mind to be clear soon." he said, releasing a soft sigh, his gaze now traveling around the room's corners, until it landed on the side with so many books.
Meanwhile, Lan Xichen, the other person he suspected of keeping something from him, has finally awakened on the other side of the property.
To be continued.
