Cara’s POV
We were all meeting up at the park in a bit and I was still not ready and on the phone with Alex’s mom.
“We’ve just noticed a big change in behavior lately and his therapist said he was angry and would probably become violent towards loved ones soon.” She said. “We made the decision to send him to Calvin military school.” Bitch.
“Well can I say goodbye?” I asked trying to hold back tears.
“Well, um.” She started uncomfortably. “See Cara, sweetheart, we already sent him away. We thought it would be best not to drag out goodbyes.” I hung up. I didn’t know what to do with myself. I lay down on my bedroom floor. All of a sudden the tears started streaming. They were silent. My phone started ringing. I looked at the caller ID. It was Kayleigh.
“Hey boo.” I answered.
“What’s wrong babe?” how’d she know? I told her about Alex getting sent away and how I really am gonna miss him even though he fucked my life up, bad.
“Do you want me to come over? Everyone will understand if we don’t go!” she asked.
“No that’s okay. I want to see everybody. It’ll make me feel better. I’ll see you at the park in like a half hour.” I said. She said goodbye and hung up. Why did she even call? She was psychic. It was the only explanation of her always knowing when I needed her. I got ready quickly and got most of the red out of my eyes. Harry would notice though. He notices every little thing about me. It was almost creepy, but I knew it was harmless and sweet. He really cared. I grabbed my purse and keys and left a note for my dad. Like he was going to be home before me, yeah right. When I got to the park, Harry, Niall and Lucy, were the only ones there. Harry waved and I waved back. Bella came over and gave me a hug.
“What’s wrong?” Harry asked. The little bastard.
“How the hell- never mind.” I said shaking my head. “Alex was sent away to military school. He won’t be back for at least four years. He’s doing college there for four years straight.” Harry came over and put an arm over my shoulder.
“Well, at least you still have us!” He said cheerily. He almost seemed too happy. Niall punched him on the arm and told me if there’s anything I needed he was there to help. I said thank you to them all and we took our places on the merry-go-round. Ever since we were kids we would meet up here and sit on the merry-go-round and talk about, well, everything. Everyone else started showing up and gave me hugs, apologizing for what happened to Alex. The last to get there was Liam, Sadie and, Zayn. Liam walked up the path alone. Weird, he always shows up with Sadie.
“Hey where’s Sa-“Lucy started.
“Oh shit.” Niall said what we all were thinking. Liam turned around. Sadie and Zayn were walking hand in hand down the path. Giggling, Zayn was giggling. They sat on the merry-go-round.
“Um, guys? What the hell?” Louis uttered. Zayn smiled.
“Sadie’s my girlfriend.” She blushed deep.
“Congratulations” everyone said in unison. We were all in shock. Zayn gave her a kiss on the cheek and Liam pretended to gag.
“So who else has earth shattering news?” Louis asked. We all laughed, harder than the joke deserved but we were all so done with being down. This is exactly what I needed, letting go and laughing with my best friends. Maybe I could get over Alex. It is prom season after all.
