Liam’s POV
I was awoken by my cell phone vibrating in my pocket. I squinted at the caller ID. Niall.
“Hello?” I said yawning.
“Oh my God, Liam, Sadie and Zayn were in an accident.” Niall said, scared.
“WHAT?” I yelled jumping up, knocking Kayleigh off the bed.
“What happened?” she said groggily sitting up.
“What’s going on?” Cara said rolling over.
“Niall, tell me what happened.” I said seriously.
“They were driving down the highway and swerved out of the way of a log and they smashed into the median, they’re both unconscious, that’s what the cop told me.” Niall said quickly.
“Why did they call you?” I asked annoyed.
“They said neither of them would respond and I was the last number called on her phone.” He said, worried.
“Where are they?” I asked starting to panic.
“They’re on their way to the hospital, so am I. I’ll see you there. Tell your parents.” He said distracted.
“They’re in the Bahamas still.” I told him. “I have no way of reaching them.”
“Okay, call Kayleigh, she’ll know what to do. I’ll see you in ten.” He hung up.
A huge knot formed in my stomach. Kayleigh and Cara were staring at me with big eyes.
“Sadie and Zayn were in a bad accident. I’m going to the hospital to see them. Kayleigh, call everyone and tell them. Zayn’s mom works at the hospital, she probably already knows. Meet me there as soon as you can.”
I didn’t wait for a reply and ran out the door. I sped all the way to the hospital, not even thinking. The nurse at the desk told me where I could wait and made me sign a couple forms allowing Sadie to get surgery on her leg and head or something. I was in the waiting room alone and was pacing trying to figure out how to get in touch with my parents. Niall ran through the door, keys, wallet and cell phone still in hand, Hair a mess and in red sweatpants. I probably looked the same. I ran over to him and I told him what the nurse told me and he told me about the details the cops gave him. We both paced the waiting room. Soon enough, Harry and Louis rushed in. We filled them in on details and they informed us they couldn’t reach Bella so Lucy was going to get her. Kayleigh and Cara walked in. Cara took a seat next to Harry and Louis and Kayleigh walked straight over to me and grabbed my around the waist pulling me close. I really did need a hug. I hugged her back and Lucy and Bella walked in. Lucy walked over and gave Niall a hug and Niall told everyone what happened.
We sat around the waiting room until Harry said “I need a coffee, anyone else?” We all said yes and Cara went to help him. The nurse came in and said two people could see Sadie, but Zayn wasn’t ready for visitors just yet. I followed the nurse to her room. She opened the door and the only light was from a lonely peach colored lamp in the corner. I walked around and turned on another lamp that didn’t do much and walked over to the bed. Her head had a bandage around it. The nurse said it was a minor concussion and she would be fine in a few days.
“Sadie?” I called softly. Her eyelids fluttered open. She smiled faintly and started to cry.
“It’s the drugs.” The nurse said kindly. “They make your emotions run wild. You have a few minutes then she needs to get some rest.” She turned and left.
“Sorry,” she said wiping her tears. “What happened? Where’s Zayn?!” She tried to sit up but did it too fast and got a head rush. I helped her lay down and calmly told her what happened. The nurse came in and told me it was Niall’s turn and then Sadie needed to sleep. I kissed her on the forehead and walked out of the room.
“Your other friend is okay to see visitors now.” The nurse said politely.
“Can I go see him?” I asked excited.
“Yes, but this one needs to be quicker, he is in a more critical state.” We walked down two doors and Zayn was lying in the bed, eyes closed. He had a bandage around his head a leg in a cast, elevated, and two fingers broken on the left hand.
“Oh my God.” His eyes flew open.
“Liam” he choked out.
I ran to the side of the bed and patted him on the top of the head, not wanting to hurt him.
“Is Sadie okay? I feel so bad. I’m so sorry, I didn’t see the log and it all happened so fast. Is she okay?” he blurted out.
“Yes she’s fine. A minor concussion and a broken leg but, she’s awake with Niall right now. She can go home this afternoon. I don’t know about you though.”
“I feel fine, my mom just left. I have a concussion and a shattered ankle and broken leg. Oh and broke my pinky and ring finger.” He said casually.
The nurse knocked and walked in, “Time to go, sweetheart.”
I stood and hugged Zayn lightly. I walked to the waiting room and saw everyone was still here, asleep. I was so happy they were still here though. Niall must still be in with Sadie. I sat down, sipped on my coffee and waited for them to tell me I could take my baby sister home.
