Liam POV
We were all trying to clean up as much as we could, but moving very slowly… Louis, however was pretty much his normal self, trying to get everyone going and ready. He wanted to go out on the Lakeshore today and spend the whole day there. It was only 11am. So we decided to all sober up and then we could pack a picnic and salvage the rest of the day. I got a twinge of anger when I saw Louis mopping up a huge puddle of vodka off the floor. I didn’t really know where it came from. Was I mad at him about something?
“Ugh” Kayleigh said walking out of the bathroom with her hair wrapped in a towel. “You have no idea how hard it is to get tequila out of your belly button!” there it is. I remember now. I was … I guess protective? Kayleigh only ever had one boyfriend and only really had tiny flings or crushes. And she never went wild, like she did last night. I blame Louis and Cara. I liked my Kayleigh the way she was. Reserved and shy and...cute. Louis gave her a wicked grin and she blushed. I got fed up and let go of the broom I was holding, letting it hit the ground with a smack. I walked into the bathroom that connected to the boys room and pulled my shirt over my head, turning on water for the shower. I needed to shake this feeling.
*knock knock knock* I heard the bathroom door open.
“Um hello?” I asked, confused.
“Hey, it’s me” I heard Kayleigh’s voice over the water running down my chest.
“Hi me” I said back. She chuckled
“Listen. I have to tell you something. I want to tell you before everyone else knows. I was getting a little anxious as I ran my fingers through my shampooed hair.
“okay” was all I said.
“Well um,” I could tell she was smiling by the tone of her voice. “me and um Louis are, um, kind of a thing I guess…” I dropped the whole bottle of shampoo on my toe from the surprise of this news..
“Ow! grrr!” I yelled
“You okay?” she asked, concerned
“yeah, um, I’m fine. So you and Louis? Really? I didn’t even know you liked him.”
“Well I kind of didn’t know either, until like yesterday. Plus I really want a boyfriend, so why not try dating Louis?” she said through the shower curtain. I turned off the water and peered around the curtain, looking at her for the first time. She was perched on the sink with her hands in her lap, playing with her fingers. She had her hair in the same-as-usual straight, shoulder length style. She was wearing a headband with a little blue bow on the side and a baby blue, strapless sun dress. She looked innocently up at me. I gave her an annoyed look.
“I’ll be okay Liam” she said hopping down and smiling at me. “Now get dressed, were going to the Lakeshore! Woohoo” she blew me a kiss and spun around, shutting the door behind her. As she spun out the door, I caught a glimpse of her hair flipping over her shoulder and felt a knot in my stomach. These feelings were becoming undeniable. The only thing I could do now was nut up and force them as far away as I could. I dried off and got ready for the lake. When I joined everyone else in the kitchen, they were all packing food and bags for our two second walk to the lake. “Do we really need all this stuff?” Niall asked “If we need something, we can just walk the short path and get it, ya know” Lucy was trying to shove another towel into the big green bag on the floor.
“Yeah, um, of course we need all this stuff!” she said. We all packed up and Louis said-
“Wait, not to be awkward or anything, but in case it isn’t obvious, me and Kayleigh are kind of going out now.” Cheers erupted and some people were surprised while others weren’t. Zayn looked at me with a hint of pain in his eyes. I shrugged and shook my head, trying to smile. I had to let it go. I noticed Bella get stiff and tense and excuse herself to the bathroom.
“YAY! now Zayn and I aren’t the only couple!” Sadie said, excitedly, pinching Kayleigh and Louis’ cheeks.
Everyone shuffled out the door. This should be fun…
