Liam POV
“How does this one look?” Sadie asked for the 20th time. She was deciding between two tops and kept changing between them. Zayn, Lucy, Louis, Kayleigh and I were trying to help her decide, but I was so bored. Zayn and Lucy were sitting on the bench next to me and they were seriously considering the two options. Kayleigh and Louis were standing with her back to him and his arms around her waist. They weren’t really paying attention. She finally decided on a green and gray top with some swirls or something on it that Lucy liked but Zayn didn’t really. We paid and left.
“Hey guys, ready to head back?” Cara asked, Harry, Bella, Niall, and meeting up with us. We all agreed it was time to head back because it looked like it was about to rain any second. I walked with Kayleigh. She had left Louis behind to talk to Harry and Zayn about something. They were driving but I wanted to walk, so Kayleigh offered to join me. I was glad she hadn’t forgotten about me. We were way ahead of the group. Because of my freakishly long legs, I naturally headed further than everyone. Kayleigh’s legs were moving much faster than mine.
“So how’s my little trooper doing?” she asked me
“I’m great, how are you?” why was this so awkward now?
“Splendid.” She said smiling and wrapping her arm in mine. We walked in silence for a minute and-
“Seriously though, Lee, how are you?”
“I’m okay. Really, I’m definitely over Jennifer.” I said. Jennifer was soo not the problem anymore.
“Good! I’m really glad to hear that, babe.” She smiled up at me and I pulled my arm away from hers and placed it on her shoulders.
“Oh no!” she said, worried
“What?” I asked
“I felt a raindrop…” as soon as she finished saying that, the rain began to pour and I mean POUR down. She screamed and we began to laugh. We ran as fast as we could, but her legs were much shorter than mine, so I put her on my back and resumed running. I didn’t really help, because she was still slowing me down. She’s not heavy or anything, but when you’re trying to run though the rain, having another person on your back makes things a bit more difficult. I let her down; because I saw the path leading up to the house and thought we would just run the rest of the way.
“Wait.” She said loudly to me through the rain.
“Wait?!” I asked confused. She let go of my hand and put her arms out and her head back. She was slowly turning in a circle. I started to laugh at her. She motioned to me to mimic her. I did. She started laughing and jumping in the puddles that were forming in the mud. She was getting really muddy, but I couldn’t help notice how happy and child-like she looked. I grabbed her hands and jumped with her in the puddles. We were very wet and very muddy by the time we got tired out. We turned to walk further up the path and I tripped over a root sticking out of the ground. She leant over to try to stop me or something and slipped in the mud pile next to her. We both fell into a huge patch of wet grass. We laughed really hard. It was that silent laugh, where you can’t really breathe. We both propped ourselves up on one elbow, facing each other. She just smiled at me and punched my arm. I laughed and looked her straight in the eye. I wanted to kiss her so bad at that moment. Her hair was sticking to her face, so I pulled it back behind her ear. I left my hand on her cheek and she looked at me through her eyelashes.
“Kay-“
“Hey! What the hell! It’s pouring out here! Get your asses inside!” Cara and Zayn were standing at the top of the path on the little hill looking at us with pure confusion in their eyes. Zayn looked at me and gave me a huge smile and a wink, interpreting our body language. I helped Kayleigh up and we both ran up the hill. It was really difficult because of how muddy it was, but we managed to make it. Lucy and Sadie met us at the door with towels.
“It was fun! We should walk in the rain more often!” Kayleigh suggested. They all laughed at my decision to walk home. I don’t know though, I thought it was worth it.
