Lucy POV
“Ow, Sadie! God!” I yelled as Sadie swiped gold eyeliner on my top lid, getting it in my eye.
“Sorry, Luce. You’re the one shaking! Relax! Calmmm” I couldn’t help it, I was so excited to go out tonight. I felt that tonight Niall would kiss me. Hopefully. This kid is hard to read sometimes. “Okay, Done. We just have to wait for Zayn.”
We headed downstairs and sat on the couch to watch the game with my brothers, Chase and William. “Wow, nice job Sadie, she actually looks like a girl!” William teased from the other side of the couch. I threw the remote at him and it cracked into his elbow. He just laughed. I smirked and the doorbell rang. I jumped without thinking. Chase and William laughed loud and obnoxiously. Sadie chuckled and headed to the door. She kissed Zayn lightly and we grabbed our purses and Zayn helped us into the tall jeep.
“Can you buckle my seatbelt, too?” I asked laughing as he lifted me into my seat.
“Ha ha. You want to rip your dress?” He smirked and swung around to the driver’s side. We took the repetitive drive up the hill. Sadie called Niall once we got in the neighborhood to tell him we were almost there. When we pulled up to the house Zayn helped us back out of the car. Zayn knocked on the front door, weird. I pushed passed him and shoved open the front door. I jumped back as a gold confetti cannon went off to my right. Niall was standing in front of me. Kayleigh squealed and snapped a zillion pictures.
“Surprise, Luce!” Bella screamed walking around Niall to hug me. “This was all Niall babe.” She whispered in my ear. I blushed and moved towards him. He wrapped his arms around my waist and I rested my cheek on his chest.
“Thank you” I whispered.
“You’re welcome.” He breathed into my hair.
I released him and hugged everyone else. Harry pulled me into the living room. I just noticed the decorations, they took my breath away. Everyone was dressed in dark blue or gold. “We look like-“
“The night sky?” Kayleigh cut me off. “I hope so, that was the plan” My jaw dropped at the big white trees we walked past.
“Thought you’d like those” Niall said as we sat down on the couch. I opened presents from everyone, they were really nice. Niall gave me a gold bracelet with diamonds wrapped around the band; it was my favorite present and matched my ring from Sadie perfectly. “Well, people should be showing up here soon.” Niall said taking my hand. Music spilled through speakers set up all over the property.”
“To tonight, and to Lucy” Louis said handing us all flutes of champagne and lifting his glass.

The house was packed. I was in a sea of gold and blue. I was with Bella, but she saw a cute guy and I was by myself trying to make my way to the back door. I felt an arm pull me back. Liam. “Lucy! There you are! We’ve been looking everywhere for you!” his eyes were dancing and he easily pulled me through the crowd. Why was it easy for him? He pulled me towards the pool and helped me up a few stairs onto a platform. I was standing in front of my whole class. Zayn was at the DJ booth with Sadie and he turned down the music as Sadie’s musical voice filled the silence.
“Ok! Let’s give a hand for Kayleigh Foster, the party planner! Doesn’t the place look great?” Cheers erupted from the crowd. “And for Niall Horan? For hosting the party?” More applause. “Now, down to business. Tonight is Lucy Caldwell’s birthday, obviously, so we need to sing her happy birthday of course!” Bella then came up beside me and put an arm around my waist. The whole crowd erupted in happy birthday led by Sadie followed by applause. All of a sudden Niall, Harry, and Liam carried a massive cake out of the house. It was lighting up the sky with how many sparklers were on it. Louis was making way for the cake waving his arms at people.
I gasped, it was beautiful. It was gold, but elegant, not cheesy. They got to the platform and I blew out the candles. Bella gave me a kiss on the cheek and the crowd cheered again. Zayn turned the music back on and they all started moving again.
Niall grabbed my hand and led me back through the crowd to the house. It was almost midnight. We went up to this room and he led me out to his balcony. He stood opposite me “I have another present for you.” I almost groaned, he already did so much, but I know it would hurt him more if he thought he did too much or worse, if I felt weird about how much money he was spending on me. He pulled a black velvet box out of his jacket pocket and handed it to me. I handled it carefully and lifted the lid. My jaw dropped for the millionth time tonight. It was a necklace with a gold chain and an ‘L’ with diamonds around it, matching the bracelet and ring. Clever bastard.
I looked up at him “I love it, Niall. Thank you so much” he lifted the necklace out of the box and I turned so he could put it on. His hands lingered on my neck and I turned to look at him.
All of a sudden there was a *crack* *boom* and pink and blue fireworks lit up the sky. There was something about the way he looked at me. It made me kind of shy and made me want to giggle and hide my face. I was not shy. He lowered his hands to my waist and pulled me closer. His lips lightly touched mine. My hands slid up his muscular arms. Then he kissed deeper making my knees turn to water. He pulled back way too soon. My eyelids fluttered open and he was standing there looking at me questioningly. I came back to earth “Took you long enough!” I shouted punching him on the arm. He chuckled and kissed me again and again.
