Liam POV
“Just cool it for a while, she’ll come around” I could hear Zayn’s advice in my head as I rubbed my eyes and sat up. I was in the room right next to Kayleigh’s in the guest bedroom. Sadie was sharing Kayleigh’s room. It was 10am and I could hear people moving around downstairs, so I decided it was unnecessary to put on a shirt. I looked outside the door before I did and awkward walk/trot to the bathroom. I flung open the door and Kayleigh was standing in the mirror, doing her hair. She gasped and dropped her straightener in the sink.
“Lee, you scared me!”
“You scared me!” I said to her “I wasn’t expecting anyone to be up here!”
“Well Sadie was in my bathroom and you were still sleeping like an angel, so I used this one.” We both started laughing and explained how we each had just had heart attacks and so on. I looked in the mirror and saw something swirly black on my belly.
“What the…?” I touched my stomach and it started rubbing off.
“Oh um, after you fell asleep, Sadie and I drew on you with eyeliner.” She said nonchalantly
“And why did you do that?” I was a little annoyed, but also a little amused.
“Not sure, just felt like it, I guess.” She said placing a white bow in her hair and spraying herself with Vera Wang perfume before running a wash cloth under warm water. “Here.” She knelt down and started wiping the eye liner off. Her one hand was on my back, keeping me steady and her other was making small circles to the right of my belly button, rubbing away the ‘tattoo’ I could feel my cheeks getting red as she pressed harder. “It’s not working, I’m going to have to go get some makeup remover. One sec.” she left the bathroom and I leaned forward, catching myself on the counter and blew out a huge gust of air. “Just cool it for a while, she’ll come around” Zayn’s voice was in my head again. Yeah, Zayn, easy for you to say. The girl you’ve fallen for isn’t putting her delicate hands all over your torso.
“Back. Here this should work much better.” She knelt down again and quickly rubbed the last of it off. Too quickly… “Okay so there you go! Take a shower; we’re going to Wallis’s today!” Wallis’s was an outdoor mini golf park in the next town. She patted my shoulder and left, closing the door. I showered quickly and put a bit of wax in my hair. I joined Sadie and Kayleigh in Kayleigh’s room.
“Ready?” I asked. They followed me down to the Comet and we drove, with the top down, to Zayn’s. We were picking him up and then heading to Wallis’s to meet the others. Kayleigh sat in the front while Sadie took the back. Sadie put on “Work” by Down With Webster and we pulled up to Zayn’s. Sadie ran up to the door.
“Oh my goodness, you’ll never guess what Carissa said yesterday.” I wasn’t even listening to what she was saying, just watching the way she twirled her hair around her finger and the way her lips curled up when she smiled. I watched the way she crossed her legs and the little freckle that you could see by her knee. The way she rested her elbow on her knee with her chin in her hand as we waited for Zayn and she continued to tell me a story that I was not focusing on.
“Isn’t that hilarious!?” she said laughing
“Yeah, so funny! She’s hilarious!” that seemed to be a valid response to her story because she said-
“I know right!? She is such a goofball.” Goofball? Who says that? It made me laugh more. Zayn showed up with Sadie after a few minutes and they jumped in the back.
“Took you guys long enough!” Kayleigh said, looking back at them over the rim of her heart shaped sunglasses.
“Sorry, we got a bit distracted…” Zayn said looking at Sadie. She gasped and hit his chest.
“Oh god” I said and Kayleigh and Zayn laughed at me. Zayn put his arm around Sadie and pulled her close as their lips smashed together. We headed back down the road and finally got to Wallis’s.
