Niall’s POV

I woke up Monday morning feeling pretty good. The last week of school was here and the Lake House and prom was just around the corner. I didn’t plan on asking anyone because last time I checked, Kayleigh, Harry, and Louis were planning on going solo. But, the more I thought about it, the more I wanted to go with Lucy. I got out of bed and grabbed my iPhone of the charger I texted Lucy.

“Hey babe! Wanna come over to mine after school today?(:” I jumped in the shower and it took less time than usual because I was anxious for a reply from Lucy. I half ran back to my room and checked my phone.

“Sure (:” I got butterflies. I didn’t know what to go with myself. I ran a few laps around my room, naked. I decided I should probably get dressed. I heard Katy Perry playing up my driveway. I opened the door and there was Sadie, with Zayn? I smiled and shook my head. I gave her a hug and looked at Zayn. His mouth was open in shock.

“You live here?” he asked.

“Yeah” I said nervously.

“That’s awesome man!” He shouted. I smiled and walked over to the garage. I punched in the code and was embarrassed that Zayn was here to see all the cars come into view.

“Shit.” I heard him say. He was right behind me now. “Are all of these your parents?” he asked excited.

“Actually, they’re all mine.” I said nervously.

“I had no idea you were so rich Niall! You don’t act like it!” he exclaimed. That makes me feel better.

“Are we ready?” I asked. I pulled on my jacket and helmet when I remembered Lucy was coming over. Maybe she wouldn’t like the bike. I took off the jacket and helmet and grabbed the keys to the Lincoln Navigator.

“No bike today?” Sadie called.

“Not today” I said smiling. School seemed to last longer than usual. In English, Sadie moved to sit next to Zayn. Lucy sat next to me. We chatted through the whole movie. The last week of school was so pointless. The bell rang and we headed to our lockers.

“You ready?” she asked smiling.

“Ready for what?” Louis was eavesdropping.

“Lucy’s coming over to mine.”

“Oh!” was all he said and walked away.

“Weirdo.” Lucy said as we walked down the front steps. I led her over to the Navigator. I walked over to the passenger side and opened the door for her. She blushed and got in gracefully considering she was in a tight short mini skirt. Oh shit, I forgot my football gear was in the back. I got in, embarrassed.

“Sorry about the smell. My football stuff is in the backseat. ”I said not wanting to look at her.

“It’s ok! It smells good!” she said. What the hell? It must’ve shown on my face because she started to blush and stutter. “Uh uh I mean the car smells good. I can’t smell the football stuff.” I chuckled and turned on the radio. I pulled out of the spot smoothly and started my way up to “The Hill”. We talked about the band that was playing as we turned into my gated community. “You live in here?” She asked. I was afraid of this.

“Uhh yeah.” She must’ve sensed I was uncomfortable because she quickly changed the subject. I pulled into the driveway and parked. She opened her door and stepped out. I heard the distinct sound of denim ripping.

“Oh my God.” She said. I looked over to her seeing a huge rip in the back of her skirt. She jumped down quickly and faced me. “Don’t you dare laugh.” She said blushing deeply. I looked at her with wide eyes.

“Ummm, I have some pants you can borrow?” I asked hoping she wasn’t going to ask me to take her home.

“I would appreciate that” she said starting to smile. I opened the front door for her to enter ahead of me. “Oh no, you are not seeing that much on the first date.” She said smiling. She said date. “Oh no, I didn’t mean… Unless it is…”

“It’s a date!” I said encouragingly. I walked in the house first. She followed me up the stairs to my room. Good, the maids were here today they cleaned it. I walked over to my dresser and pulled out a pair of gray sweatpants. I handed them to her smiling. Every time I looked at her she was looking around jaw dropped. It made me uncomfortable. I showed her the bathroom and she went in. I waited for her in my room. I turned on the TV. She walked in, head down. I leapt off the couch and ran over to her.

“What happened?” I asked. I was really worried. Did I offend her somehow? My mind started racing at what I could’ve said to mad her upset.

“It’s nothing.” She said. I took her hands in mine.

“Tell me” I said encouragingly.

”I’m embarrassed.” She whispered.

“Don’t worry about it!” I said laughing. “I didn’t see anything!” She shook her head.

“If I knew where you lived I wouldn’t have invited you to my house so many times before.” I looked at her, shocked.

“What’s wrong with your house?” I asked.

“Well it’s definitely not this!” she said waving her arm gesturing at my obnoxious house. It was true, her house, her house was small. It didn’t have much furniture or anything really but her parents were never home anyways.

“I’m not friends with you because of your house. I like you because of you.” A tear fell down her face. She really was embarrassed of her house. I pulled her over to the sofa and sat her down. I got on my knees in front of her and took her hand in mine on her lap.

“Lucy, do you want me to take you home?” I asked. She shook her head. I lifted her chin up with one finger. I looked into her watery eyes. Lucy was beautiful. Mascara running down her face, sitting on my sofa in sweatpants I’ve never really seen Lucy the way I did now. All I wanted to do was make her happy again.

“You are beautiful.” Was all I said. She smiled weakly.

 “Thanks.” She said.

“Let’s get out of this damn house!” I said.

“What do you mean?” she asked.

 “I’m taking you out tonight.”

 “In sweatpants?” she looked shocked.

“You look amazing to me.” I said. She smiled and wrapped her arms around my neck, hugging me. We walked down the stairs and she saw herself in the mirror. She gasped.

“I don’t care what you say Niall, I look like hell. We have to stop at my house before we go anywhere.” She flashed me a brilliant smile and started back down the stairs.

“Wait” I forgot. I got down on one knee and asked “Lucy, will you do me the honor of going to prom with me?”  She squealed and wrapped her arms around me pushing me to the ground.

 “Of course” she whispered.
