Kayleigh POV
“Yeah the mall yesterday was so much fun!” I said to Cara. Cara and I met only a few years ago, but she is the best friend I could ask for; besides Liam of course. I guess she’s my best girl friend.
“It would have been better if Alex wasn’t so annoying the whole day. *ugh*”
“Cara come on, I’ve told you at least 100 times, you need to be done with him! Ouch!” I dropped the phone on my toe while I was awkwardly trying to put my skinny jeans on and doing that weird dance you always have to do to squeeze into them. I decided to wear this –

“Sorry, I’m back” I chuckled
“Hey Kayls? Ready hun?” my mom called from the banister.
“Hey babe I’ll talk to you later today alright? I’ve got to go to the appointment now” I frowned.
“Okay, good luck, I love you!”
“Love you too, love.”
I hung up the phone and grabbed my bag from my bed as I went down the stairs. My mom was waiting, car keys in her hand, with Liam in the kitchen.
“Ready to lose your wisdom teeth?!” Liam asked overenthusiastically, trying to cheer me up.
“No.” I was so nervous. I couldn’t help but smile a little though, Liam skipped school to come with me because I kept stressing about this.
“You’ll be fine baby.” My mom said as she walked past me out the door and kissed me on the top of my head. Liam winked at me and squeezed my nose between his fingers (he knew I hated that) as he passed me, I kicked him lightly on the butt.
We drove to the appointment talking about things completely unrelated to the surgery, but it could only distract me for so long. We walked into the hospital and checked in. I was sitting with Liam as he texted Jennifer on the bench, smiling like a fool. I liked Jennifer. You’d think as a girl with a guy as a best friend that I would be really protective or jealous or something but I wasn’t. I was happy he was happy and when he smiled at her, it made me smile too.
“Okay” the doctor said “Here we go!” he led me to the room where I was to get changed and ready for surgery. As I turned around one last time I saw Liam and my mother waving and smiling at me. I smiled back and stuck my tongue out at Liam. He gave me a fake appalled look and then smiled. The doctor explained to me that it was a very minor surgery and I would be able to go home a few hours after it was over, when I woke up.
“10…9…8...7…6...”
“Wakey wakey, sleepy” I could hear my dad’s voice as he rubbed my shoulder. “Ready to go home?” he asked.
I nodded and smiled. My dad came on his lunch break to see me and make sure I was okay and drive us home. I swung my legs over the bed and got dressed back in my regular clothes, mentally punching myself for not wearing something more comfortable.
Liam and my parents joined me in the room when I was done. I could see Liam giggling at me as I wiggled uncomfortably in my top.
“Only you would wear lace to a hospital where YOU were having the surgery.”
“I furrowed my eyebrows and pursed my lips at him”. He just kept laughing at me. He was so annoying. I looked in the mirror in the bathroom before we walked out the door. My eyes flew open wide. I made a moaning sound as I saw what I looked like.
“I look like a..a…”
“Chipmunk.” Liam whispered in my ear as he walked past. A chipmunk! That was it.
When we got home, Liam came in too because everyone else was in school anyway and he didn’t want to go home. I was exhausted from all of the anesthesia that was still in my system along with the pain killers I was on, so I went up to my room and got under the covers. Liam followed and got my laptop from the desk and joined me on the bed. I lay staring at the ceiling trying to fall asleep when Liam busted out laughing.
“What?”
“You really, really look like a chipmunk!” he put the laptop on the floor and rolled around on the bed laughing.
That was it. He was so damn annoying sometimes. I just got out of surgery for goodness sake!
I grabbed the pillow he was laying on and wacked him over the head with it and laid back down.
“Oh come on Kayls” he said choking back laughter.
His laugh was so contagious I couldn’t help but laugh. “It’s not funny!” I said through pursed lips as I tried SO hard not to laugh. He threw a pillow at my stomach and it was on.
We had a pillow fight for a good 5 minutes. After we calmed down, I fell asleep in the middle of the bed sprawled out and the last thing I saw was Liam’s butt walking out of my room and down the hall. “He has a nice butt…”I thought to myself and finally drifted to sleep……
