"So you can see my dilemma." Cordell said to Cassie as they enter Ranger HQ. "Honestly, I stopped listening about seconds ago." Cassie said, dismissively. "Ye... Okay. So Stella told me she started seeing the Davidson kid, which, of course, I support. You know, I-I want to support."

"Right. Because you and Denise used to looove each other." Cassie teased. "No, no, we didn't... We were kids." Cordell clarified. "Yeah, well, I like that you felt the need to engage on that." Cassie said.

"On the other hand, if Liam, (Name), and I are correct about this whole saddle thing, then that changes everything and reignites the family feud." Cordell explains. "So what you're saying is happy hour therapy?" Cassie asked and Cordell points at her. "Yes, that is exactly what I'm saying right now."

At that moment, James appears in the doorway of his office. "Walker, my office, please." He said and Cordell nods to him then turns back to Cassie. "Not right now. Rain check. But you'll think on my dilemma. Yeah?"

"Every waking hour, partner." Cassie replied, Cordell twists his head and clears his throat as he goes to join James in his office. "Cap." He said, taking off his hat.

"Yeah. Uh, you remember Rita Vyas, right?" James asked, moving behind his desk. "Miles Vyas' wife. Yeah. You want me to grab Cass?" Cordell asked, already walking back to the door. "No. Grab the door, actually." James replied.

Cordell raises his eyebrows and gives a nod. "Of course." He said and closes the door. "All right, you know I don't like to admit that you taught me something. But you did last year." James begins. "Okay." Cordell mutters, unsure of where this is going.

"I learned that if one of my best Rangers has a gut instinct about something, I should never completely close that door. You were right about Emily, right?" James said and Cordell staggers for a moment, fidgeting with his belt.

"Right. Are you thinking Cass was right about Miles? Did you get a lead?" Cordell asked. "I stayed in touch with Rita, just to kind of keep tabs, you know, just in case. She called me last night about Captain Fenton. Said he's been acting erratic, leaving in the middle of the night, et cetera. So Rita followed him, and she saw him with someone." James explains.

"With-with Miles? Or saw him with someone who looked like Miles?" Cordell asked. "Well, she wouldn't go that far. She didn't want to get caught. She got spooked, but she gave me an address." James replied.

"Okay. Yeah, yeah, let's run it down. Worst case, we give a widow some closure. Okay. But, uh, Cap..." Cordell said, jerking his thumb over his shoulder at the door. "I know, I know, you want to tell Cassie." James mutters, looking down at his desk.

"Or at least understand why we aren't." Cordell said. "Look, the spiral that I saw you go through, that I helped put you through? I don't want to kickstart that with her if this is just false hope. Look, give me two hours. Two hours. If it's real, she's the first call."

Cordell thinks it over quickly and nods. "You got it. Two hours." He said. "Let's do it." James said, heading for the door. "All right." Cordell mutters, not far behind him.

Meanwhile at the Side Step, Liam is playing pool with Cassie's brother, Ben, who he went out with the other day. "Does that make it an official date?" Liam asked. "We're grading on a curve, William. I met Lucas when we were 16!" Ben said as Liam takes his turn, knocking some of the balls around the pool table.

"Oh, you are so not ready for this, and it is so charming." Liam teases. "I'm sorry, what's that?" Ben asked. "Oh, not in a judgy way, it's just you seem like a man of few long relationships that likes to stretch what the definition of a date is." Liam clarifies.
