To say (Name) was nervous would be an understatement. She was downright terrified about tonight! Even though she know Cordell and her are on the same page, a part of her still couldn't help but be anxious over every little thing. Worrying if she'll mess something up or not.

She tried to keep her mind occupied by getting ready for the date. Getting dress in a nice simple black dress, and thigh-high stockings. She also decided to put on a few finishing touches, like makeup and perfume.

She didn't normally do this. Hell, she hasn't even touched a makeup bag since high school. But tonight felt different. She really wanted to impress Cordell and if it meant forcing her brain to remember how to use eyeliner without poking her eye out, then so be it! Tonight is special she needed to look her best.

Meanwhile in the farmhouse, Cordell stood in his bedroom having just finished getting ready and was checking himself in the mirror. He's wearing a white dress shirt with the first two buttons left undone, a black suit jacket, black dress pants, and his black cowboy hat. His hair was also slicked back and he has a hint of cologne on.

Cordell shot a smile to his reflection as he straightened his hat, a small burst of nervousness going through his body at the thought of tonight. As he begins to lower his hand from his head, his eyes catch sight of his wedding ring.

He stared at the ring, the feeling of grief and pain hitting him like a ton of bricks. His breathing came out a bit faster than normal as his heart ached, thoughts of Emily filling his mind. It always hurt to remember her, the loss of her never ceasing to be painful.

He wondered if she'd approve of him seeing someone else, if she'd be angry or if she'd be happy. He sigh softly as he looked up at himself in the mirror again, his expression becoming more soft.

Emily would want him to be happy, so he needed to stop overthinking everything and enjoy his date with (Name).

Cordell watched himself in the mirror as he pulled off the ring, his gaze shifting to the golden band in his hand. It felt weird having it off his finger, like something was missing. But he needed to put it away for a while, he needed to do this without any reminders.

He turns and walks over to his nightstand, placing the ring there, under the lamp as he spoke to the air in a soft, quiet tone. "Wish me luck, Em." He loved his wife with all his heart, but he couldn't keep living in the past.

As Cordell walked out of his bedroom, he felt slightly better now, more confident in what he was about to do. He pick up a bouquet of flowers he purchased early in the day from the counter, looking down at them for a moment and smiled to himself, the sight making him feel a bit nostalgic.

He took a deep breath, trying to calm his nerves as he mumbled under his breath. "Good enough, old boy. Let's just not screw this up again."

Soon arriving at the guesthouse, Cordell straighten his shoulders and clears throat before knocking on the door. He runs a hand down the front of his shirt to straighten any invisible wrinkles, taking a moment to compose himself and put on a charming smile.

As she opened the door, Cordell's eyes widened slightly and his mouth drop partially open as he take in the sight before him. Her simple yet elegant dress and stockings fit her perfectly, accentuating her natural beauty.

"Wow." He murmured, his voice a low rumble of appreciation. He quickly recovered his composure and smiles. "You look... wow. Just... wow. I can't even..." He said, his voice laced with a hint of admiration.

(Name) gives a bashful smile as she unconsciously clutches her wrist in a nervous matter. "Thank you. You look really handsome too." She said, her voice soft and quiet.
