(Name) yawns as she shuffles out of the bedroom and into the kitchen where Cordell is cooking breakfast. "Hey! Morning, darin'." He greeted with a big smile as he takes the bacon out of the pan to set on a plate to cool. "Morning." She muttered, taking in the sight of all the food he was making.

"Wow... you've been busy. When did you get up to make all this?" She asked and Cordell shrugged, his expression one of pride as he looked at all the food spread out on the counter. "A few hours ago. I couldn't sleep, so I figured I'd make us all a big breakfast to celebrate August graduating."

(Name) hums in approval as Cordell steps closer to her, his hands settling on her hips. "Mm someone aiming to get a World's Best Dad mug for Father's Day." She teased, draping her arms on his shoulders as she smiles up at him.

Cordell chuckles as he unconsciously brushes some of her hair out of her face. "Well, I do try my best, darlin'." He said, softly as he leans in, planting a gentle kiss to her lips.

(Name) hums against his lips before they separated with a sensual popping sound. "Well since you're in such a generous mood... can you make me your smoothie?" She asked, looking up at him with puppy dog eyes.

Cordell chuckles once again as his smile widened, unable to resist her adorable expression. "Now how can I say no to that?" He asked, leaning in to plant another kiss on her lips before turning towards the counter.

He places the ingredients into the blender and puts the lid on before turning it on but the high-pitch whirring sound, caused him to have PTSD flashbacks of when he was held captive by the Jackal. "Cowboy?" (Name) said, her voice sounding distant.

But Cordell continues staring at the blender, dissociating from the world around him. "Cordell?" (Name) said, her tone filled concerned. "Cordi?" She said, gently placing her hand on his forearm, getting him to snap back to reality.

Cordell blinked a few times, his heart racing as he turns the blender off. "Hey, hey, um... Hey. Sorry, I-I-I don't know what, um..." He stammered, his voice a little shaky as he spoke. His gaze shifted to the blender, the fear and terror still fresh in his mind.

"No, it... You're okay." (Name) said, grabbing his other arm as she moves herself in front of him, blocking the blender from his view. "All right? You're okay. I'm here." She reassures him.

Cordell's body trembled slightly as he took in deep breathes, his gaze fixed on (Name) as he tried to steady himself. His heart was still racing, but her presence was helping to keep him ground to reality.

"Right. Yeah, thank you." He murmured. "No, don't thank me. I love you." (Name) said, tenderly rubbing her hands up and down his arm to help soothe him. "I love you, too." He said, breathlessly, his lips forming into a warm grateful smile as his trembling subside.

Hearing a clatter coming from upstairs, the two look and Cordell pulls away as August begins descending. "HEY!" He exclaimed excitedly, making his son jump on the stairs like a frighten cat.

"There he is! Look who's awake." Cordell said, clapping his hands together. "Good morning, bud!" He greeted with a big smile. "Morning, Augie." (Name) greeted, pouring herself a smoothie. "Golly, you scared the hell out of me, Dad." August chuckled, coming down the rest of the steps. "Morning, (Name)."

"Well, hey! It's your last day of senior year. Wanted to start you off like a champ." Cordell said, turning the food tray to August, that's packed to the brim with pancakes, eggs, bacon, fruit, a muffin, and a glass of orange juice.

"Thanks." August said, staring down at the mountain of food. "I mean, I know finals were last week and all, but I..." Cordell said. "But you almost died last week." August said, letting a small nervous chuckle.
