(Happy Holidays, everyone! I just wanted to let you know I'm going to be a little tied up with Christmas stuff in the coming days. So the next update for this fic won't come out till someday after Christmas.

I hope you enjoy the festivities & your traditions. And if you don't celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, or anything in the coming days, I still hope you have a beautiful week!)

Cassie and Cordell are still waiting by the crash vehicle for Captain James. "This really is the middle of nowhere, isn't it?" Cassie asked, getting a little tired of waiting.

"Yeah, well, consider it a gift. No passing cars means no witnesses. No one to send up a flare to Grey Flag." Cordell said, leaning against his truck, now wearing his ranger jacket to protect him for the cold night air.

"This is bad. We're already on thin ice with Captain James, and now we've laid two dead bodies at his feet. One that's connected to Grey Flag... and the other that's..." Cassie said, nervously. "And one that is directly connected to me. Yeah." Cordell murmured.

"There's no coming back from this, is there?" Cassie asked and Cordell pauses, contemplating the situation. "I guess... we shouldn't have run down theories behind his back, no, but we've looped him in now. You know, we-we didn't ask for permission..."

"But we're gonna beg for forgiveness." Cassie said and right at that moment, a pair of headlights cut through the darkness and Cordell push off his truck as he points to the approaching vehicles.

Cordell waves them over and held his hand up to his eyes to block the lights as they get closer. The first car that was leading everyone came to a stop and James climbed out. "Cap." Cordell greeted.

Another car that wasn't with everyone else pull up behind Cordell and Cassie and to their surprise, Trey step out. "Trey." Cordell said, in quiet bewilderment. "Hey." Trey muttered. "Wait... What are you...?" Cordell said but Trey ignores him and approaches the crash car, where James was already looking at the body.

James sighs, dropping the blanket back over the perpetrator and raise to his feet. "What do we got, Cap?" Trey asked him. "It's Hyde." James announced. "What?" Trey asked, disheartened to hear this.

"Wait-wait-wait, okay, hold-hold on a second. Hyde-Hyde, what?" Cordell asked, coming up beside them with Cassie. "It's Andrew Hyde." Trey said. "A-Andrew Hyde? Who's Andrew Hyde?" Cordell asked.

James glances over at Trey, who returned a knowing look back to him. "Trey's way into Grey Flag. Or at least he was. We got a lot to talk about."

James and Trey led Cordell and Cassie back to a safe house to explain everything that's been going on behind their backs. "The Feds provided this house so we can work the Grey Flag case, steer clear of any Fenton-type moles at HQ." James explains.

"All right, C-Cap? Why didn't you tell Cassie and me? What, you think we're too close to it?" Cordell asked. "I was ordered to exclude you both. Sean had done recon on Cassie, abducted you and (Name). Look, I-I actually wanted to tell you. You're two of my best, you know that, but FBI wouldn't bend."

"Yeah, until tonight." Trey chimed in as he opens a file. "All right, so here's where we're at: Trey has gone under to infiltrate Grey Flag." James said. "Wait, what?" Cordell asked still a bit confused.

"His insubordination, his DPS hearing and firing... it was all an act." James confess. "And it was a pretty damn good one, if I do say so myself." Trey remarked. "Uh, sorry, how long has this plan been underway?" Cassie asked.

"Well, our old friend Federal Agent Tessa Graves reached out right after Cordell and (Name's) run-in with the Grey Flag chemist. We thought that attack was the end of them, but FBI spotted pockets of activity resembling their MO across the country." James explains as Trey crossed out Hyde's photo and lands it next to the other dead Grey Flag members.
