James grabs Cordell by his arm, hoisting him out of his grave with great effort. "Come on. Come on." He grunted and Cordell practically collapses into him, his legs still feeling weak and sluggish.
"What happened?" Cordell mumbles, his voice and body trembling as James supports him. "DAVID!" Cassie shouted in the distance. "Luna?" Cordell murmured as they look off in that direction her scream came from. "We got to go. We got to go." James said, helping Cordell walk.
Elsewhere in the woods, Cassie is sobbing as Brianna hugs her while Trey and Beau lay a blue police jacket over Luna's body. "No! No! No, David! David!" Cassie screams, squirming to get out of Brianna's arms.
She manages to get free and attempts to run to Luna's body in a fleeting attempt to revive him but Trey catches her and clutches her against his chest. "Please, you're a medic! Help him!" She begs through her tears.
"Cassie..." Trey murmured, his voice sounding choked up as he held her close, his heart aching for her. "Please! Somebody..." Cassie sobs as Brianna places a hand to her mouth, breathing in deeply to fight off her own tears.
Beau notices and steps over to pull her into a hug as well. Brianna lays her head on his shoulder, watching Trey and Cassie for a moment before her eyes drifted to Luna's body. As she stares at him, she sees flashes of painful memories from when she lost her son and parents and averted her eyes, pressing her face into Beau's shoulder to hide her tears.
"Come on, Cass. Sit." Trey whispers to Cassie as he moves his hands down to her waist. "What?" Cassie mumbles, her mind so rattled that basic instructions weren't registering to her.
"Sit, sit, sit, sit, sit." He said, softly as he gently guided her to sit down on the ground as James and a limping Cordell arrives. "No." James said, staring ahead at Luna's body. Cordell pulls away from James, stumbling towards Luna.
"Hold on, hold on. Walker." James said, reaching out for him but Trey catches Cordell to stop him. "Sit down. It's all right. It's all right. Sit. Sit down." He said, gently guiding Cordell to sit down next to Cassie.
"Okay, Brianna, Cass." James said and Brianna pulls away from Beau to give him her attention while Cassie is staring off into nothingness with a dull empty look in her eyes. "Cassie." He said a bit louder, getting her to look up at him.
"You two, stay with Walker. EMT and backup will be here soon. Okay, Trey, Beau? The Jackal can't have gone far." James instructed. "Yeah, let's get him." Beau said, taking out his gun.
"Hey..." Brianna said in a hushed voice as she grabs his arm. "Be careful." She pleaded, a bit of fear in her tone. Beau holds her gaze and smirks. "Don't worry, I'm not gonna die on you and leave you in a cold, cruel, Beau-less world."
Her lips quirked up into a small smile followed by a snicker escaping from her. "Alright, dork." She said, affectionately and he grins back before leaning in for a quick kiss. As he walks away, Trey walks over to Brianna. "Hey, Brianna."
"Yeah?" She asked as he hands her a syringe. "It's the antidote, just in case he worsens, all right?" Trey explains. "Got it." Brianna said, clutching the syringe like it was a holy object.
"Keep him stable. All right?" Trey said and Brianna nodded. As Trey begins to leave, Cassie gets to her feet and runs after him. "Hey." She said, catching him by his wrist. "Don't let him get away."
Trey nods and takes Luna's assault rifle as he follows James and Beau to search for the Jackal. "Boys." James whispers and points to a footprint in the dirt and they follows the trail.
Brianna sits besides Cordell, holding his wrist with her finger over his pulse to feel it. Cassie sits nearby, zoning again until she shots an angry death glare at Cordell, who's too shaken and weak to notice. They then hear a gun shot in the distance making them flinch and Cassie gasp.
