I stood in front of the mirror in my room, holding one of my dressing in front of me to see how it would look on me. I groan, feeling like this was too revealing and tossed in on my bed as I went back to the closet for another look.

Cordell, Cassie, and I were invited to some luncheon by Kevin to help plan this honor ceremony the Mayor is throwing for us for preventing his assassination attempt and saving Kevin's life.

Even though it's just for planning the event, black tie is required. Which meant we all had to dress up. It's been a while since I had to wear anything fancy and I'm a little nervous about it.

I look through my closet and pulled out a red wine dress that comes down to my knees and shows off a little bit of my shoulders. I hum thoughtfully, finding this to be the best one. It's simple, yet still elegant enough for the occasion.

Cordell walks up to the guesthouse, dressed in a nice dark blue suit and his white ranger hat. He took a deep breath and raised his fist, giving the door a swift, firm knock. He lets out a small huff as he fidgets his tie until he heard the doorknob jingle and straight up.

As the door is slowly pulled open, Cordell's breath hitched for a moment, his eyes growing a little wider as he took in (Name's) appearance. The color of the dress contrasted nicely against her skin tone and the way it fell to her knees highlighted her figures without being overly revealing.

He took a second to recover, clearing his throat and offering a soft smile. "Hey. You, uh, ready to go?" He said, his voice slightly husky. (Name) gives him a nervous smile as she nodded and steps out of the house.

"As ready as I'll ever be." She murmured, pulling the door shut behind her and Cordell noticed the slight nerves in her voice, giving him a small sense of relief, knowing it wasn't just him who was feeling awkward.

He nodded, taking one last glance at (Name's) dress before offering his arm for her to take. "Well, shall we be off my lady?" He asked, trying to alleviate both their nerves by being playful. (Name) look at Cordell and lets out a soft chuckle, a small smile tugging at the corner of her lips. "We shall." She replied, linking her arm with his.

Cordell felt the small knot of tension in his stomach slowly beginning to undo itself, giving him a new sense of normalcy in this somewhat awkward situation they were in.

Cordell pulls his truck up in front of the restaurant the lunch is being held, which is definitely way fancier than anyplace I've eaten at prior. As I unbuckled my seatbelt, Cordell held up his hand. "Wait there." He said, taking his own seatbelt off and opening his door, climbing out.

He swiftly walks around to my side and open the passenger door for me, smiling softly as he offered me his hand to help me out. I smile back, feeling those pesky butterflies in my stomach again.

"Always the gentleman." I teased lightly as I place my hand in his and allowed him to help me out of the truck. Which was very appreciative cause this dress does limit my mobility a bit. Cordell let out an amused huff as he closes the passenger door.

We walk around his truck as the valet steps away from his podium. "Thank you." Cordell said, handing him the keys to his truck and allowing him to park it. Cassie stood next the restaurant's sign, wearing an all black suit and her white ranger hat.

"Okay, handsome." Cassie said and Cordell stops, squinting his eyes at her. "Excuse me?" He said in confusion and Cassie waves a dismissive hand. "Don't worry about it. You had to be there."

"Okay." Cordell murmured, still looking confused. I wonder what that's about, maybe something to do with Trey, those two have been spending a lot of time together since he became a ranger.
