I set the toaster down on the kitchen counter and plug it in.

"Anybody want some toast?" Stark grins, "I hear this toaster makes really good toast."

Banner stares at the toaster, "Is that?"

"Yep, new and improved you can't even tell it exploded." I boast, Banner, Stark, and I are the only ones in the kitchen so whoever uses the toaster first will be an unsuspecting guinea pig. Sam and Thor haven't made lunch yet, turns out the Avengers aren't good at remembering to go to the grocery store. For lunch everyone just reheated leftovers, Cap is trying to round everyone up for a trip to the grocery store. I wonder how we are going to get there.

Half an hour later and everyone is crammed into some of Stark's sports cars. Since most of them only seat two everyone is divided into drivers and non-drivers. Steve, Banner, Wanda, and Thor are the non-drivers. Leaving Stark, Clint, Sam, Natasha, and I as drivers. There is an odd number of people so Stark is able to worm his way out of grocery shopping. I get to drive a really cool looking blue car, Steve agrees to ride with me as the one least likely to be seriously hurt if I crash the car. Everyone else splits up into the cooking partners.

"So for dinner I was thinking, hamburgers, hot dogs, and s'mores."

"Is it really safe to talk and drive at the same time?"

Steve ends all attempts at conversation until we arrive at the grocery store. The sign out front reads Leavenworth Groceries. "Nobody told me we were in Kansas. It sure is nice to be home."

"You're from Kansas?" Clint exclaims, "Me too. What part are you from?"

"Fort Leavenworth. But my family is lives in Wichita and Emporia, with a couple cousins out in Kansas City and a great aunt living in Topeka. I'm an army brat so I grew up all over, but Kansas is home."

"I live out in the Flint Hills."

"Cool, I remember driving through the Flint Hills every summer with my parents on the way back to Wichita. Just miles and miles of rolling hills as far as the eye can see."

"We should stay in pairs, pick the food we need and meet up by the checkout in half an hour." Natasha suggests.

I grab a shopping cart and practically drag Steve around the store, picking out hamburger patties, cheese slices, various condiments, vegetables, buns, all the ingredients of hamburgers and spaghetti and meatballs and a couple other meals besides in case any one forgets or gets hungry. Then we get to the candy aisle. I grab lots of marshmallows, milk and dark chocolate, graham crackers, and the I add some twizzlers, kit kats, more dark chocolate, and other candy. What can I say I have a sweet tooth and Stark was funding the grocery trip. I also grab vegetable oil and popcorn kernels.

"What is all of that for?"

"Popcorn, movie night, carrying on family traditions, et cetera et cetera."

"Huh?"

"Never mind... you'll see." We go meet the others near the front, I am glad to see I am not the only one with more food than just the one meal . Clint and Thor have a cart full of really random food, like ramen noodles, pineapple juice, and six or seven frozen pizzas. And one of each type of candy or sweet treat in the store. Cap raises an eyebrow, "Barton?"

"He never tried jolly ranchers, how was I supposed to say no?" Clint grins. "I did get some healthy food. Lots of asparagus and broccoli and salad. "

"Fine, get in line."
