"Loki Laufeyson, stand down." Septimus commands.

"And if I don't?" Loki grins maliciously.

Sep shrugs, "Then I leave you to your fate."

"Septimus! No. We still need him." I barge in, "Loki you need to stop. Now. I'm serious."

Loki scowls, "I do not take orders from little girls."

He pokes Dominicus with his finger. The poor guy is just barely holding it together, his knuckles are white as he digs his hands into the table, literally. His nostrils are flaring and his eyes are squeezed shut as he tries to take deep breaths. The final poke sends him over the edge, "Aaargh!"

His spine arches and he yanks his claws from the table. Dominicus' eyes glow purple.

Not good.

I pull the evacuation alarm. The crowds exit quickly, everyone too panicked to notice the purple scales spreading across Dominicus' face as he fights the change.

Loki scoffs at something Sep says, I missed hearing what because I was paying attention to the civilians not to Loki, anyhow Loki scoffs, "Your princess is no more threatening than a little girl playing dress up in her father's clothes, she's hardly that. Can she even draw that bow of hers? If she is half the warrior her father was no wonder he died in battle."

Fangs descend as Dominicus stalks towards Loki.  Dominicus has dragon wings growing out of his back, fangs and a mouthful of pointy teeth, claws any movie werewolf would be envious of. The change happens all of a sudden and then the dark purple dragon is snorting smoke into the air as Loki backs up. Sep merely warns Dominicus, "If you kill him I still have to bring you to court."

"He insulted the honor of my.. our Princess and that of the late King." Dominicus growls in a deep gravely rumble.

"Neither of whom would want him dead for the insult." Theo offers, "Krizzia would not at any rate and what I've heard of the late King, he sounds rather alike his daughter in temperament."

The Dragon Dominicus sits down on his haunches, "I know, I seem to lose control sometimes, my instincts take over. Dragons are quite protective and I seem to be no different, Dragon Familiar or no."

"Well, he was trying to provoke you, it's all anyone could have done to resist. Loki has set off the Hulk before and no one can fault Dr. Banner's anger management skills." I reassure Dominicus. He looks doubtful. He went for years without an accident until he met Dereck nearly two years ago. He worries that someday he'll seriously hurt someone. Dragons, while sentient, are not the most civilized, they rely heavily on predator's instincts and can be rather, well, predatory and aggressive. One of the Dragon Ambassadors ripped apart the gardens at Castle Ceteria a long time ago because he overheard one of the Fey call him 'that scaly old monster'. They were actually discussing the Kraken but he thought they were gossiping about him.

Dominicus takes a deep breath and than another he quickly shrinks back into a man, garbed in purple robes that bag on his thin frame. He strides quickly leaving the room. I imagine he'll be headed to the bathroom or some lonely and abandoned corner to sulk in peace. Speaking of which, where'd everyone go?

Oh, right, I pulled the alarm. I go back to the alarm panel and sound the all clear. Hopefully we can convince the public that some lab experiment went wrong. The rest of the Avengers are standing nearby and Steve raises an eyebrow.

"Loki provoked Dominicus. I'm tired." I yawn and then promptly fall asleep as I am standing there. it was a long day.
